As dwinnert says, for the type of things that I do I find that the K10D is not limited at all. I own a K5iiS, and it is an awesome camera, buy I am so used to working with the K10D that when I use digital it is usually the first camera I grab. Besides, I love the colors.

I do like your idea of shooting high ISO and then converting to black and white dwinnert. I am going to have to give that a try.

First day out with the new to me DA* 300 and the K10D. It was cloudy today which is how I wound up with the high key shot of the sunflower. Sunflowers also attract lots of birds so I will be going back for sure.

The CCD makes the backgrounds smooth and nice and seems to help with the "nervousness" of zooms especially. The result is bokeh that could be mistaken for a prime, as you nicely proved

One day people are going to be tired of us singing the CCD praises... or they might as well join us and feel the joy as well

That is a superb image, Paul. Sharpness where it counts and bokeh that complements it.

Thanks CR and Ray! The photo did have some PP applied, but it helped to have a better-than-average kit lens to use. It actually has usable sharpness and bokeh wide-open, which seems uncommon with this lens.

K10D in-camera Black-and-White conversions:

These were taken art ISO 100 with my Vivitar Series I f/3.8 24-70mm at 24mm. These images seem to pop a bit more in black-and-white. Kinda makes me wish their was a way to shoot black-and-white directly, from time to time.

Looks good.

As for in camera B&W? I think it may have been before it's time. I just shoot RAW and convert in processing. I think in the end you get better results anyway.

Thats one of the features that almost had me pulling the trigger on a FUJI. The in camera B&W film simulations are very nice IMO. I just can't justify the cost for me personally.

I just plug along with my old K0D, for now anyway....

.Here's another one:

This with my SMC Pentax-A 35-80 kit zoom at 35mm with wide-open aperture, taken on a morning I took post storm cloud pictures out the car window at the fastest shutter speed. The silhouetted tree is a bit more substantial in B&W.

It was foreboding but then it moved west away from us. Thank goodness for that anyway.
