Absolutely love your moody pics of the Dartmoor standing stones and the old church, Dartmoor Dave. I can almost hear the baying of the "hound".
As a Nikon user for many years, I acquired a K10D when I joined the Toronto Pentaxians group, and like many others love the colours it produces.
They have an old world dreamy quality and I am reminded of Constable, the English painter and his Salisbury Cathedral painting.

Thank you, Mike. I got home yesterday in a lousy mood after a stressful day, and your words cheered me up instantly. Thank you for taking the time to make the world a better place for a stranger in another country.

And I think you're absolutely right about the painterly quality of K10D photos. That wonderful old CCD sensor can achieve atmospheric effects that are impossible with the more sterile-looking CMOS sensors.

Just look at the third shot, the colours are stunning.

If it were mine I'd go a bit mad and crank up the saturation, way beyond where it should be just to see more of the colours.

Gee, I have never heard CMOS sensors described like that. You could well be right. I would not know personally as I have only ever used a CCD in my beloved K10D.

As an example, here is a shot I grabbed a couple of nights back (he is a resident in the village where I live):

I was thinking the same thing. It might even help reduce some of the effects of the haze.

Thanks for looking! I don't like these oversaturated colours and tend to keep my saturation down. That said, the first shot was considerably enhanced to bring out the subtle colour variations; the second even more so. The third is not very much different from out-of-camera.

This is what the second image would have looked like unprocessed:

Wow - the last photo is striking !! These dogs are so brave !

Your K10D does great too - just look at those colors - this is what I love aslo about this cameras - even average lens can do great on it due to moderate resolution requirement - and your series seems to prove my own experience... as long as it's got glass in it - I can fit it on my K10D and take a picture --manntax
