Paul, I hope those torrential rains in your region haven't caused a problem for you or your family!

Good to know! Yesterday, our local TV news showed deeply flooded roads in Dallas, and told of well over a half a foot of rain falling there in a very short time. I started hoping you lived on high ground!

Not at all.

We can't help it if Pentax cameras and lenses are the best value for the dollar around.

Another from my K10D.

I agree, Racer. Yes, we know that we use a brand that is a "niche" player in the DSLR marketplace but I am yet to find anything which provides better value for money.

That is a beautiful rig, Racer. Beautifully recorded with your K10D. I am a great fan of good truck shots as my dad owned a trucking business and, in a previous life, I worked in the industry for a while.

Thanks Ray.

The K10D was when I firs began really processing my pictures. The Flickr album it is in has several versions of many of the exposures I made that day, with varying degrees of fiddling. I spent a day or so exploring what Photoshop can do to digital images. There is some pretty dramatic stuff, I even changed the color of the truck.

Here is the inside, my home away from home. It is pretty barren here, as I hadn't moved in yet.

I carry my camera just about everywhere I go, so I have pictures of every truck I drove and many of the loads I hauled, and some of the places I went into and out of.

I even hauled a set of tires for a special Boeing VC-25A (747).

Not all of the images are shot with the K10D, so click through and browse my Flickr, there is lots to see. In five years I covered 800,000 miles. With my K5IIs I spent a couple weeks shooting the view from the driver's seat several times a day, and plan to process them, and see if I can make a "movie" with them, a coast to coast from Racer's office kind of thing.

Always found it a bit of a challenge to get something out of the K10D on night shots - doesnt take much to bump the ISO and have the whole image fall apart.

Having some fun with ISO100 + long exposure in Bulb mode with a cheapy DA 18-55 whilst Im having an after work beer.

8.7sec (on a mini tripod)
F5.6

minimal fiddling in PP, its pretty much as it came out of the camera.

Pretty happy that the ole CCD picks out some details if you give it time to take in the light.

I shoot my K10D at iso 100 nearly all of the time, but whenever I have needed to bump the iso to 200 or 400, I've never seen it cause any problem. On rare occasion I will go higher, and also not find any serious issue.
