Once again, great images with that camera/lens combo, Paul. I wish we had crowds like that at out local car shows.
Thanks Ray! I guess you're referring to the sparse "crowd" that day. I imagine the low turnout was due to everyone watching NFL on TV that September Sunday afternoon. I used to be one of those guys!

The old Rippon Tor rifle range butts with the Takumar 17mm. I've always thought that a nice shot of a shapely butt is one of the great pleasures of photography.

Good use of light to bring out the many shapes of the building, Dave. As they say "It's all about the light".

From the archives: A zoo trip in December of 2015 with my K10D and a Sigma 75-200 push/pull zoom I inherited from Dad 10 years earlier. I think the AF focused on the tree limb and not the lion’s face but with a little tweaking in post this is acceptable to me today.

Thanks Ray. I don't visit that corner of the moor very often, since it involves miles of driving down narrow country lanes where it can be a nightmare if you meet something coming the other way. But I think I should start making the effort more often in search of new places to explore.

I love the muted colours and the feeling of atmosphere, and I imagine even the latest DSLRs would have probably locked on to the higher contrast of the tree for focusing. The sort of shot where manual focus would beat autofocus most of the time. It's still the best zoo photo I've seen in a long time.

Thank you, Dave. I appreciate that. In 2015 I was still just getting back into photography as a hobby after a long period of relative inactivity. Probably wasn’t fully aware of the limitations AND features of my gear.
