Nothing wrong with your eye for a good shot, excellent job.
These kind of images bring me back to the days we were swimming in winter weather in a local harbour.
Cold but not too cold, water was just over 10 degrees C.

Thanks! That photo was taken in Texas during October, I think. The early evening temp. was about 75F or so, not cold at all!

Has anyone replaced the battery in the K10D remote control? I recall reading that it could not be changed, you have to buy a new remote if it runs out. Mine has not run out (have had it since 2008 but not used much) but today I noticed three tiny cross-head screws in it, and I opened it out of curiosity. There is a button battery inside, and apparently nothing to stop you replacing it.

I did not actually remove it as that would disconnect it and I wanted no chance to upset it, so I was unable to read what type of battery it was, but there seems no reason to think it is anything other than a fairly standard one.

I am guessing that the same remote is used on other Pentax DSLRs.

I assume that you are talking about the "Pentax Remote Control F" that slides into the battery grip on the K10D. Yes, you can replace the battery.

This post tells you what you need to know: Pentax Remote F battery - PentaxForums.com

That's the one. Thanks for the reply and links. I gather it was Pentax's advice to send it back to them to replace the battery when needed, but I wonder where that would be these days

In fact with a jewellers crosshead screwdriver it looks pretty simple to replace the battery, and to obtain one : someone said it was a CR1620. In the first link (last post was 2014) they were asking about battery life so I revived the thread to add that mine was still going after 12 years, and that I guess it would last the shelf life of the battery unless you are taking selfies at a maniacal rate

I wonder what Pentax charges to replace the battery.
Most Pentaxians will be able to do that themselves I think.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge that is the correct battery. I have not replaced mine yet as it is still working after 12 years, just like yours.

BTW, are they still looking for you? I won't tell anybody that you are in South Wales.

No, I'm safe now because in 1992 I was legally presumed dead. Mind you, it seems a not uncommon name on forums generally, but those others are imposters.

So you are the real Lord Lucan.
That leaves many questions.

If you are referring to my photo above - it was taken in Southern California But yes, there are still a lot of wide open spaces in both Calif and Texas!
