I have a new toy - a Sigma 17-70mm DC Macro HSM Contemporary which is now mated up to my trusty K10D.
Here are three images I shot today. They are JPGs straight out of the camera and the only PP is resizing for the web and minor levels adjustment. Other than that, nothing. I am going to enjoy working with this lens.

Thanks, Paul. It sure is an easy lens to like. And you were right - hardly any PP required. I am definitely a happy camper!

Thanks, Tom. Well, you usually get what you pay for. It cost a fair bit more than a kit 18-55 and it is a step up in quality. I spent quite a bit of time researching before I decided on this lens. No regrets.

That is beautiful, Paul. The K100D and Sigma 17-70 make a good combo. Nice puss, as well. We had a cat just like that one.

That's the most colourful cow I have ever seen. And it has been recorded so well on a K10D CCD sensor.

I recently purchased a new Sigma 17-70mm Contemporary DC Macro HSM lens and today I gave it and my trusty K10D a good workout. I went with a group from Central Coast Photographers Club to Mt Penang Gardens at Kariong. As it is mid winter here I did not expect to get many good images. I could not have been more wrong.

Here is a small sample. The Sigma and the K10D work very well together.

Wow, great images. Did you apply any sharpening for are they straight from camera? What ISO were you using?

I don't own a K10d but I'm seriously thinking of geting one. I don't need loads of bell & whistles just good image quality.

I was shooting at 200 ISO as it was quite windy but I was also using a monopod.

Most had no sharpening (the Sigma is so sharp that most of the time no sharpening is needed) but I did use unsharp mask on a few. Apart from a levels adjustment on some they are virtually straight out of the camera. I shoot RAW but today I worked with the JPEGs presented by Faststone, saved them as TIFFs and processed in CS6 for cropping, levels and resizing for the web and then saving as JPEGs again. HTH.

If you can pick up a good K10D you'll get all the bells and whistles you need and quality images as well.
