Ok I fixed the battery grip. I took it apart and I found there is a little rubber plunger that when attached to the body pressed down and connects contacts that act as a power cutoff. I tried flexing the contacts to be closer but that didn't work...so I put a tiny droplette of UV resin to the tip of the plunger...so it pushes down just a little bit more...and that did the trick.

Good to hear you got it working, and that's sure to be useful information for someone else who gets the same problem in the future. It's always a pleasure to meet another member who's willing to take a piece of faulty gear apart, figure out what's wrong with it, and get it working again.

I've been using the K10D the past week or two and I have a couple of observations.
1) multipoint focus has a hard time focusing at infinity...hard time is an understatement...it can focus at infinity with 18mm or less. If I switch to spot focus it works. Is this normal or known or does my body have an issue. I've tried it with the 18-55 DA WR, 18-200 Tamron and 10-24 Tamron.
2) my horizontal alignment seems to be a little off from the viewfinder...if I allign the bottom edge to the horizon, it always ends up a little off...like a + 3 degree rotation. Even on a tripod with a self timer.

Oh... I meant to say it has a hard time focusing at infinity with wide angle 18mm or less on multipoint AF

I find center-point AF with backbutton focusing works well for me. Also, it seems the "tilted horizon" is a well-known problem with this model. One of mine is afflicted - it seems the sensors in some copies are just slightly off-axis. Luckily, it's an easy fix in post.

As Paul has mentioned, this is a known problem with some K10Ds. Mine also has it and I have also tested it on a tripod against the edge of a window frame which I verified with a spirit level. The window frame was level and so was the camera but the sensor is not. An easy fix in post.

I saw a 3rd party battery grip for the K10/20d...Phottix BG-K20D Grip. It interesting because it has front and back dials and exp comp button, AF-L and a couple other. https://www.ebay.com/itm/372996174701
Are these good? As good as Pentax?

Also, regarding the battery grip...there is a place to hold a wireless remote and spare SD card. Which model wireless remote fits in here?

You can compensate for the tilt by adjusting the focusing screen shim so that the level that you see through the viewfinder will match the actual photo. But it tends to go back out of alignment again after a few months of use, so like others here I've eventually settled for just fixing it in post. That's not ideal, because rotating an image by a degree or two requires interpolation, but in real world use it's never caused me any visible problems. At least not at the sizes I view and print at.
