I have a question for the thread at large, how accurate is the manufacture date in the exif detail? My k10d says the manufacture dat is November 25 2006 and my k50 says it was built exactly 8 years later on November 25 2014. Is this a generic build day? Or were they really built exactly 8 years apart? I have yet to test my k100d super.

Update:
Turns out the k100d super was made September 28th 2007

The K10d receives a lot of praise from users. I took that as a fact.
It is only after I used my second K10d to take some shots of an exceptionally beautiful 60 year old Hasselblad lens that I realised how excellent the IQ from the K10d is.
Against my habit to use a macro lens i took some snapshots of the Hasselblad lens with the 18-200 Sigma lens that came with the K10d.

I am blown away with the quality of the images. The K5 ii Pentax body I use normally does not come near the K10d.
Do not ask me what the difference is, I can not describe it.
Sorry for lack of pictures, I still have not found a way to become a member here,

A member of the K10D Club, or Pentax forums? You are already a member of both. As a "Pentaxian" here on PF, you have photo storage available - or you can use a hosting site such as Flickr to link your photos here. I look forward to seeing your images.

Christian certainly has a point although I still use Technical Pan 120 roll film with exceptional results.
It takes at least an 80 Mp digital back to come near Technical Pan.

The first table top shots I did with the K10d and studio strobes blew me away.
I can not describe how excellent these shots were. No idea what the physical explanation behind these images is.

Good afternoon...

First post in these forums. Tomorrow I will be receiving my k10d body from KEH. My plan is to use my old Pentax glass on it. (50 1.7, 135 3.5 and some zooms) Long time k1000 user. Im encouraged by all the compliments of this camera.

Thanks for reading...

Thank you! I have had the k10d since 2007 when I was working at Ritz camera. I bought it new from the employee purchase program. The k100d is new to me. Bought it a while ago because of the lens that came with it. After reading through this thread I fell back in love with my k10d and started using it again. The six megapixel thread also has me thinking about simple tools producing amazing results. After my k50 fell victim to aperture block failure the decision was made that much easier. I love my newer hi tech mirrorless cameras but nothing can replace the trusty k10d.

That is what makes it so difficult to describe the differences between even good CMOS sensors and CCD sensors... I guess the proper words haven't been invented yet?
People can create profiles that imitate how CCD sensors see light and color, and that is very helpful to the CMOS sensors, but there's some things that CCDs do that CMOS just can't do. Like when you take a picture of a creek with both cameras and you see just how more natural and real life-like the water looks on CCD. Same with foliage or even clouds, and anything metallic-looking. It can't be described, you just have to see it.

Thanks CR for the help.
I guess I will have to join the club here as a paying member to upload some images.

May I add glass objects tot the list CR gave here.
I remember trying to shoot glass sculptures with a C..... camera, it was a total failure.
Then I used a well known MF camera and I was back in business.

I did not follow the MF digital path simply because prices went sky high with only limited improvements of IQ.

Since then I specialise in the service and sales of Hasselblad pre digital gear.
Hasselblad is about the only make that survives in the MF film world.

Are you aware that you're already able to upload images here? The "K10D Club" is just a regular forum thread... You're already a welcome member of the club simply by posting in it (better still that you now own a K10D! ), and you can include images in your posts as in any other thread

Nothing special about this photo, only the ironic placement of the two advertisers. Cracked me up!

Actually, I love this kind of photography... I have a book somewhere that is all photos of diners, gas stations and other roadside buildings - sometimes colourful and/or interesting, other times bland but representative of the neighbourhood. Even without the ironic ad placement vs the shop's purpose (which, admittedly, is funny ), I like it

Does anyone have info on what focusing screen for K10D with manual focus lenses? What model number and a source? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Gerry
