Oh , what kid doesn’t love a tree house /platform .... Very cool.

Very nice. I admire people who can do that.

Here it's mostly just me, the kids help a bit right after we plant but they soon lose interest. My wife likes to keep most of the backyard area as grass for the kids to play, so the garden is relatively small. But I have a well established container garden at the side of the house and that's the main source of herbs and hot peppers (and pictures )

So here's a partial view of the tree platform we built for them on the hickory tree... with the K10D and DA*16-50mm...

I just found this thread, I didn't realize anyone else was still using old DSLRs. The K10D was my first DSLR. I had handled a couple of the earlier Pentax ones in stores along with a Canon EOS20d, and tried out a coworkers somewhat equivalent Nikon, and none of them were convincing enough to get me to switch from film to digital. The K10D was apparently the one though. I think I waited until it had been out for a year or so and the price had dropped a bit. I've still got it, but I've been using a K20D for the last couple years now. Most of my photography is outside, with old, manual focus lenses, and it works really well for that. I've rarely used it past ISO 400, and mostly just shot JPEGs with it. I'll have to go through and post up some of my pictures taken with it. I used to carry it around in my work truck all the time working in the bush, as well as the couple times I've gone traveling since getting it years ago.

Lens was converted by removing the Canon mount, machining the lens body down to attain proper Pentax K registry distance, and then installing a spare part K mount on the Canon lens. It was not a major task for an experienced machinist. We had to countersink mounting holes to fasten the K mount to the Canon lens body, maybe the most difficult part. I have two of these lenses, a Canon-FD 55mm f 1.2 as well as an older Canon-FL 55mm f 1.2. These are great lenses to shoot wide open to create narrow focus plane effects and great bokeh, but as ordinary lenses, of course, it does not do to compare them directly to precision lenses of today with their modern multiple layer coatings and aspherical elements.

Thank you for that ;
Interesting ,
As you say , many of the older lenses are great wide open , but not so, closed down , I find.
Fun though... But beyond me... I got as far as buying tiny screwdrivers to try to fix some... and so far...
