I don't know what has possessed me, but I got up at 6:30 AM on purpose today, trying to catch the sunrise. Sadly, none was to be found
However, there were a few other nice opportunities, and I got a morning workout at the same time

Here's a Beetle in the morning gloom. Heavily edited to make its headlights pop and enhance the overall mood; I've also uploaded a less edited version since I usually try to go for natural colours, or black and white.

Nice composition.. The headlights don't lookoverly processed Imo. Have to wonder what the driver thought of the photographer though shootingpics of the building and cars at that early hour..probably worried them they were about to be caught in a sting, lol.

Thanks!
I played around with values in Darktable, and ended up with a "vignette" effect centering around the headlights, and also adjusted the colour balance to make it more orange, hence the caveat.
I may have collected a few odd glances indeed, but one old lady seemed happy to see a photographer, and even wished me a good morning the Beetle driver probably didn't see me, I managed to snap the shot in the last second. Very happy it turned out good.

Pretty.
Ha! Yes, you are right. Looking at it that way it is much younger than my screw mount lenses from the 1960s and 70s. May it live as long as they have.

That image is really nicely done.. backlit but also well exposed to the front. Beautifully captured. I would not mind that flower in my Gardens.
AL
Thank you for your kind words. That plant is covered in buds and that flower is among the first ones to bloom. Many more to come.

Being an insomniac has its perks

Shot with my Auto-Revuenon 200mm F/3.5 (at f = 8 if memory serves), combined with Revue 2x Teleconverter for 400mm F/16 effective. Not too bad.

Just today, my latest toy lens arrived, a Sigma 28-200mm, nicely compact, and autofocus feels like a luxury after shooting with vintage lenses almost exclusively
So far its IQ seems decent enough, I was surprised that even with the teleconverter at 400mm it was not too far off the prime.

Lowlight still is a huge challenge, especially when you're shooting handheld. I feel sad knowing that my smartphone probably would've produced a better image under these conditions my Auto-Revuenon 50mm F/1.4 also was not very usable wide open, turning the lights in most scenes into a blobby mess. Maybe its coatings are just not advanced enough to deal with the glare and halos.

I have gotten in the habit of having a camera with me at all times while doing yard work.. I get less work done but its more fun. So was doing some gardening and along comes these two. Its a gray sky and the K10 had on it a sigma 50-500 apo dg, both of which really do best with more light. Images are soft but sometimes you take what you can get.

Pair Cardinals

I rarely see a pair of cardinals together. They always visit the feeders separate...They are near each other, but never side by side.

I did try a little vignetting on one just to see if it improved the overall appeal of the Image... not the same pic as above as I am happy enough with that one.
Pair Cardinals

does it work?

Yes, it works for me. Both images are acceptably sharp with good colour.
