French version of a bullfight, in Arles in 2009. The object is for the bullfighters to grab ribbons from between the horns of the bull. The ribbons can then be exchanged for prizes donated by local merchants, and the bulls rarely get hurt unless they happen to run into the walls of the bull ring while chasing the participants. K-10D and FA 28-80mm.

You better believe it, Dave! Here's a prime example of both the tenacity of a bull and the lengths one of the "bullfighters" must sometimes go to in order to avoid being gored or trampled!

Thanks. I think that, if I tried it, I'd end up on the bull's trophy wall!

Thanks, Paul. If you look closely at the first image I posted, you can see a scar on the "bullfighter's" hand. I imagine that most of them have one or more scars somewhere on their body! Here's an image of one of the "bullfighters" in the process of grabbing one of the ribbons from between the bull's horns and If you look closely, it appears that the "bullfighter" has a couple of long scars on the outside of his right arm. I'd say that the bulls have a distinct advantage here!

Really nice! I saw the Blue Angels a couple of months ago. Shot them with the K3ii. Did not even think to try with the K10D. Didn't realize it could focus that fast?

Thanks. Actually, it turned out to be a lot easier than you would think because of the flight direction. Since it's almost directly across the line of sight, the distance is almost constant for a long enough period of time to get a reasonably sharp image even with the relatively slow focusing of the FA 100-300 lens.

Great photo. Skyline looks so empty compared to now.
