Thanks Carol - I was using the DAL 50-200 for that one, wide-open I think...

Hi everyone. Decided I might as well join in. Just got a K10dD about a week ago with 2 manual lens (Pentax 50mm/2.5 and Tak 135. My first venture from point and shoot. Thanks to a multitude of good info on this site I'm actually learning how to use it in manual mode and having fun. The color is just awesome and focus not that difficult after a little practice. I also got the book "Understanding Exposure", which has helped a bunch. I should have a 18-55 al (2) kit lens arriving next week.
You can get the Magic Lantern Guide for the K10D. I bought one when I got my K10D and it helped a lot. You could find a copy on Amazon real cheap.

Although I have the K-5 and 3
I refuse to part with my K-10 even though it is reaching the 100k click count. When it dies I have a replacement that I picked up on fleabay with less than 1,800 clicks for $140.00 US. Just love the color rendition of the k-10 and always have it along for the ride.

Bought mine in 2008, was my first DSLR! Bought a second as a backup a few years later. Good thing, because my original one stopped working after 56K actuations. Bought my third from KEH. I now have a K5 which I use the most often. It's ISO performance and focusing speed are so much better than the K10.....:but I still love the images I get from the K10 so much better!
I try and bring my K10 with me every day and change to a different lens every few weeks( usually an M42). It has an "S" screen from focusing screens.com, which makes it easy to use the older lenses. I will always try and have a K10 to shoot with reguardless of how old it is!

Well, I love my K10D so much, I just bought another one with very low shutter clicks (Less than 1300); & a grip, + extra battery for a very good price. Mine has around 26,000 clicks on it.

Down the road I am hoping to pickup a K3; but for now, I'm happy!

Love my K10D. Ever since I got an M42 adapter for it, it's been great using classic Takumar lenses. Kinda like the system I wished I'd had as a kid.

Just upgraded to a K10D - from a K3.

Hello to all. Well to tell the truth I used to have a K10D some years ago which started me on the digital leg of my photographic journey. I rather foolishly sold my first K10D a while back and have regretted ever since. I had to fix those regrets and I recently managed to find another lightly used K10D.
I find I cannot get the same film look to my pictures with either my K5iis or K3 as I can with the K10D and this is especially so with the older glass. Today I finally managed to fix a focusing error on the K10D today (updated it to firmware 1.31) but I think I may need a better focusing screen for the manual stuff - eyes are not what they used to be

Anyway here are a few focus test shots while I waited for the showers to pass today. The second one will probably be a give away to what lense I was using - the shot reminds me of the swirling gusty spring winds we get here.

fond memories of my K20D

I never had a K10D but got a used K20D about 4 years ago. it really was the camera that introduced me to DSLR:s and was great to use. perfect size for my hands, got a K-5 II afterwards which i think was a little bit too small...i used to chase pigeons around shooting 1/1000 randomly into their flock with a fixed focus on my DA 35 mm, worked out well... I also liked the kind of noise the K20 produced at iso 800 or 1600. it looked nice and kind of film-like to me. that camera has meant a lot to me and the way my life has changed for the better, sold it just 2 years ago, but feels a lot longer... K20D...R.I.P.

One of my favorites

My K10D is still one of my favorite DSLRs. I've used Canons and Nikons but I still go for my K10D when I need good quality photos. I have to admit, I find myself using my cell phone camera more and more though. Just too convienient.

I got a Front Page Picture in one of our local Free Newspapers, the Brentwood 'Yellow Advertiser' from my 'Old' 2007 K10D which is still working ! I used a 35-80mm f4-5.6 SMC Pentax-F lens and a Sunpak auto 36FD flash ans a slow shutter speed to get some 'ambient light' through . It was a Microwave Oven fire in the house of a 76 year old lady in the next road to mine..

hey all, Christmas is almost here and I've been thinking about what i should get for myself. I have the k10D and I was wondering if you guys can recommend me some flashes, since the built-in one is great for a short distance but nothing more than 12 feet. I'd prefer if its under $100. Any suggestions? also, I only use MF lenses so yeah thanks
