With a little adjustment it looks like old film.

I was thinking about all the talk about the look of film and thought I would see what I could come up with. I think it's more film like in full res. https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0WGf693Zsx8YQh;02352032-2766-437B-8117-EF3301787EC1

This thread keeps being fun. I long ago sold my K10D *and* my K100D to fund my K-7. I eventually bought a K-5 as well and eventually sold both of those to fund the K-3. I now shoot mostly film (again, and more than ever) but the K10D is really where it my return to photography began to take firm hold (the K100D was like a gateway drug). A tribute post to the K10D and stepping into a larger world...

Well I need to pipe in here and tell you all about how I feel about this K5 after I sold my K10 after a proper few months.

1) The green button is in the wrong position
2) It's super quite
3) Doesn't feel any faster
4) All my lenses look better
5) Yes a little lighter.

That's it!

Keep your K10 folks. Higher ISO's haven't really been of any super use to what I have been shooting. Yes cleaner, and yes you can underexpose and pull back. but don't! just expose properly at iso1600 on the K10 and you will be fine.

Interestingly I haven't been taking as many photos with the K5. Perhaps it was the added challenge of an older cam that made it a little more fun for this hobbyist lol.

Oh the bit about all my lenses looking better. Well yes. There is more resolution apparent. it's not a "HOLY CRAP BATMAN!", but a "ah yeah"

All in all If My K5 regressed into a K10 tomorrow I wouldn't really be upset. In fact I'd welcome the placement of the green button back once more. :P

P.S Miss you guys :P

You've just saved me a couple of hundred by convincing me to stay with my K10D clone for the time being. I rarely go above ISO100, and I'm perfectly happy with the print quality I'm getting at the sizes I prefer, so why rock the boat by switching to a different model? I'm only in my third year with this camera, and I'm only now beginning to feel like I'm starting to get the best out of it.

My only worry is that I think my sensor is starting to show signs that it might give up soon. I'm starting to get a curious sort of cross-hatched pattern visible in some shots that seems to be some kind of sensor artefact. Still, the good news is that a replacement K10D would cost less than 100 these days, as long as I can resist the temptation to get a newer camera instead.

Stop looking at your lenses and go out and use them...

High ISO

Here are two shots, where the K10D performs very well (imho), even at ISO 1600. These were taken at a circus especially for children, where the kids learn some tricks and then perform them in front of the parents a few hours later. Of course the following task was only perfomed by one of the circus professionals

I still love this camera. I get usable, workable images and that's the only result I care about. Shot with a Fujinon EBC 55mm macro lens.

These photos show why this is by no means an outdated camera. I do not think that you could duplicate those colors in the first photo on a CMOS sensor without some fancy post processing.
Here is a photo of our Komondor Karika. Taken with a basic Sigma 50-200 lens.
