my K20 has been my default camera since i purchased it in 2009 - but last year i was able to pick up a K10 body with a kit lens on ebay (with only 2000 shots taken!!!) and i did so just to have a dedicated body used for night shots or long exposures (almost exclusively). now - i love my K20 and prefer the image quality it produces over the K10 but my biggest complaint about the K20 was not an issue with the K10 - that being DFS. i believe it is the most overlooked benefit of the K10 and to this day i have never understood why pentax did not give us the option with the K20!!! it SUCKS waiting 4 minutes to see a 4 minute exposure (as i am certain many of you will agree). thanks for this thread! i will use my K10 until it literally dies, or until i do!

Try this link : turn off DFS with your K20D and K7 scroll further down and see how to do ito n K20D - you need to enable debug mode and people there were able to achieve what you want .

I agree though - pentax should have given this option as with K10D did. --manntax

ISO is the Achilles heel of the K-10D.
Up to 400 it is OK, but from then on NOISE is very troublesome
I have had good results up to iso 800 on the k10 its just past that it gets to noise ridden for me but from 100-400 it is just stunning. I would say the k10 has the best color rendering at 100 iso of all pentax cameras.

Gee, I love hearing people say things like that. Makes me feel good. Thanx.

I'd be unable to differentiate between my K10D and my K200D's images in practice. Same great CCD sensor.

The K200's got a few additional nice features including compact size, AA batteries and WR too. To me, the VF and size/handling are the big differences.

Admittedly I don't use the K10D so much since acquiring a K-5 last year. But for subjects where I know low ISO is sufficient I still reach for it.

This is pretty much SOOC; just a default raw conversion as far as tone curves etc.

Looks like a good choice to me.

Bromeliads on K-10D and Meyer 200mm

Best thing I ever did was to acquire the K-10D for my M42 lenses.

First image, then 100% crop of part of it.

Again. If we are honest, a now cheap throw-away 7yr old DSLR honestly provides enough resolution :P

And that's probably fair of any SLR from the last 7+ years.

Amen to that.

Lovely colour PaulH.
K-10D really excels in soft light.

Whoa! Those images are just fantastic, OH. Which M42 lens produced that? The 100% crop is incredible.

Thanks Ray
I have several M42 lenses but they don't all render the same. Some are clinically sharp, while others are silky smooth.
It is an old Meyer 200mm f4.
I think it is in the silky smooth category.

I have an SMC Takumar 200mm f4. I'll have to see if I can come close to your image.
