K-10D often handles high ISO badly.
Last night it did OK.
ISO 1600 (maxed out) with monopod support.
The lens was an old Tamron SP23A 60-300mm and I was shooting wide open because the light was so bad.

Yes .. indeed people often learn that even that badly handling ISO 1600 as K10D do, still does the job Especially when paired with skilled hand ! Besides we often simple watch photos on the screen or do small prints.. for that K10D ISO 1600 is still plenty enough with a bit NR and PP .. more than adequate.

The light may have been bad but the photo isn't. Very well handled.

Yes, what he said. I, too, have proven that a properly exposed ISO 1600 shot with careful PP can look quite good. Don't write off a K10D at 1600.

Thanks to everyone for posting such fine examples of the K10D in use- not to mention the skills of the photographer!
Here's a couple of older shots, they're X-posted from other forums. I really enjoy how well the sensor handles subtle color changes like the sunbeams against the sky, these are sometimes hard to pull out. Also the realistic texture of the metal on the macro gear photo, another great quality of the K10D.
As an aside, I saw a decent 'user' K10 sell for under $200 on the marketplace here recently. Quite a bargain, I was tempted to buy it myself!

Impressive stuff from the old K10!
This was shot with an inexpensive Sigma (Quantaray) 28-90 macro, but not in macro mode. Some fairly heavy cropping & a bit of PP were done:

All this talk about low light and high ISO with the trusty K10 prompts me to share these. I saw this refinery the other evening in Toledo. The flame from the flare stack illuminating the vapor clouds against the darkness was haunting.

A couple with the 18-55WR and a couple with the 10-17 Fisheye, all handheld.

And a couple of a Kenworth K100 cabover pulling a cattle trailer lit up like a Christmas tree on the Ohio turnpike. The first one is the reflection in my side mirror.
