I went for a walk through a rainforest with a 28mm M f2.8 and do I take pictures of the pretty lush rainforest? no? I wait for some boring straight lines and I take a photo of that instead Pfff

This was a rare opening toward the end of the trail, up the top looking out over a gully in front. Scale is wrong here. Some of those white poles continue below the frame a further 40-50m

I was up in a Mountain Ash forest (tallest flowering tree) The big ones were 90-100m with the average being closer to 60-70m tall.

Made one feel very very small :P

Ah. this, Click 2 Kinda hints at what it was getting at. That stump was at least 2 persons thick?

Love the doggie shots, Paul and Daniel.

Here's a couple that look at first glance like boring snapshots in bad light of a place I've photographed a hundred times before. But here's the thing: they were shot with a 1947 vintage Kodak Anastigmat 50mm/3.5 lens that I've salvaged from an ancient Kodak 35RF rangefinder and converted to K Mount. These are just the first test shots -- I can't wait to get out and see what it can do in good light. It might be just my imagination, but I'm convinced there's a touch of a vintage Kodachrome look to the rendering.

And here's the lens, shown on my old dead K100D:

(I'll probably xpost this in the Impossible Lens Club.)

You are an amazingly resourceful person, Dave. I would never have thought that you could convert a lens like that to work on a K-mount. And, by gosh, it seems to work well. More power to you, man.

Kimber. A DA* 50-135 + Kenko 1.5x TC makes for a nice 75-200 f/4 lens.

Nine vertical shots with the Zenitar 16mm, defished with PT Lens and stitched with Microsoft ICE. Really just a test shot -- one to try again when the light is better.

The 18-55 kit lens is much under-estimated. Here is one from the archives taken with a Version 1 copy of that lens. I have since upgraded to the WR version.

That's astoundingly good for the version 1 kit lens. It would still be a good shot whatever lens it was taken with, but with THAT lens it's darn close to miraculous.

I ended up wrenching my version 1 kit lens off my old K100D one day and depositing it in the dog poop bin in my local park, which is where I felt it truly belonged. I gave the version 2 kit lens to my sister's partner to help him get started with a K10D body he had bought. And recently I donated the 18-55mmWR to a local charity after not having used it for a year. So it's fair to say that I'm not the kit lens's biggest fan, but my admiration for those who can get good results with it is boundless.
