Hi there.

It looks like my problem is down to a problem with the SD card slot.

To fix it, I've bought a low mileage GX10 so I can enjoy many more years with this great camera.

More beautiful reds, pinks and yellows from the CCD

One thing I have been noticing is that the CCD in the K10D attracts a lot more dust than the CMOS in both the K20D and the K-r... but it blows off easily. Then more comes back later... :/

Beautiful shots there, CR!
From Saturday night at the youth ballpark with a Sigma 28-90. While not a great lens, its a decent walkaround with more reach than the kit lens:

Yeah, but Paul, you've got the ability to make "not great" lenses punch far above their weight. Love the way you've used the trees to frame the scene in that one.

Here's a snap from this afternoon that's not really of anything in particular, just the sunlight beginning to play across the moor as a storm clears (SMC Takumar 28mm).

Why, thank you sir, you're too kind! And I never get tired of your Dartmoor 'scapes, sans pony this time!
Here's another from the same evening...these folks were leaving the ballpark after the game:

A Heads Up!

A poster I have known for years over on PBase has an excellent K10D for sale. I can attest to her great skills with this camera and you can bet it is like new too.
I am so tempted to buy it myself...but I have that K1 due any day now and don't want to get too greedy. Maybe someone here or someone you know would love a fabulous Classic K10D in perfect condition?

Great camera and a seller you can absolutely trust.

Regards!

Hi there.

I'm having a problem with my beloved k10d.

After a handful of photos it says card locked and refuses to save any more photos.

I've reformated two cards and I'm getting the same problem. Any ideas?

Both cards are 16gb.

I found that the write protection switch that locks the cards was catching as I inserted them. So I had to be very careful when sliding a card into the camera.

Thanks Paul Still getting a hang on the K10D...

I'll post some thoughts on it in a bit but one thing I want to say is that the K10D is much more dependent on having the right exposure than the CMOS cameras I've had (Sony and Samsung sensors). If you underexpose, the colors end up darker and lifeless and lifting the exposure can't fix it. If you overexpose, some colors will have a more "pastel" look to them which is fine if that is what you are going for. Proper exposure on the other hand will reward with amazingly natural and great colors. One interesting thing is that of the pictures I've been "throwing away", many of them, due to good exposure, actually have great colors and rendering, and sometimes this CCD 3D effect (like in the flower picture above). But in these pictures I decide not to pursue, I'm the one who didn't do a proper job with composition, or maybe a shot that I thought was going to work, ended up being just bleh. The K10D is making me want to be a better photographer, in that sense

There's no substitute for the correct exposure.
