Another from the same morning (DA18-55). Someone enjoys front yard gardening.

This one marks the first time I've ever taken a snap with the Tak 20, then looked at it when I got home and thought, "Hmm. . . would have been better with the 18-55mm WR."
OMG. . . I'm becoming everything I used to despise!

How do you figure?? Love the composition and light.

Going back to the end of May with the F35-80:

Thanks Paul. It's mostly that the extra 2mm would have let me use a slightly different shooting angle that would have given more of a sense of depth, and the warmer rendering from the 18-55 would have brought out more of the rusty colour of the ferns. I'm not about to abandon my Takumars, it's just that I'm taking the 18-55 out with me more often now, and finding that a lot of the time it's actually the right lens for the job.

As you know, I've been a long-time fan of the good old 18-55, and you certainly know how to get good results from it

A very nice mid-60's VW seen at the Coppell TX car show last month. I'm thinking it's a '66? DA16-45 on K10D:

Beautiful Beetle. Or was it called the Bug in the US? I can't remember. There's a pristine blue early Beetle (with the split windscreen) that I see around here sometimes, but I haven't managed to grab a snap yet. I'm hoping to find it parked in a photogenic spot on the moor someday.

You're getting great rendering from your 16-45mm, Paul. There was something about that lens's portrayal of colours that I just couldn't get to work with the light around here, but it looks like it suits the colour palette of your part of the world perfectly. Sorta confirms my theory that lenses all have particular kinds of light that they render best, and others that they just don't like at all.

Both Thanks for your comments - I'm quite happy with my 16-45! By the way, those car show photos are jpgs from the camera, with only slight WB edits. I think I need to dial back the saturation a bit, though.

A couple from April, during a long walk to the lake with the DA18-55:

No, no! I think it is just right. Well, it is for me.

That Vdub was a very nice example. Modified but not overdone - except maybe a few too many decals!

I was behind with my files, thanks to having had a 2-week vacation... I think I'm pretty much caught up now.

M 50 1.7

Tokina 24 2.8 and some beautiful CCD colors... nobody seems to talk about CCD purples, but to me they are distinctly better and more natural looking!

The reason nobody talks about CCD purples specifically is that all colours are better with a CCD. And I'm not going to put a after that statement because I really mean it.

Yeah no argument from me here! I guess what I meant is that for CMOS, purples are particularly difficult.

And we don't need to talk about greens, of course. Tokina 24 2.8 again:

Whenever I am bored the Rikenon XR 50 1.4 with the broken iris which is stuck wide open, is always guaranteed to bring out some amusing bokeh. The fact that my 52mm Nikon warming filter seems to be stuck in front of it only makes it quirkier...

These are scenes from around the office when everyone else has left...
