Hi
I was no implying that Pentax users belittle the humble kit lens - indeed it's more on other forums , which I will not mention .
It seems that it is left to this K10D thread to champion inexpensive , but effective photography .
I adopted a 50f2 Takumar for a 1972 Prinzflex [ Chinon ] STTL and still have the lens .
I guess that many of us could just afford a 50mm and worked around the limitations .
Maybe this was a great introduction to snapshotting for me .
[ I am still at that stage !! ]
Thanks to Pentax , many older inexpensive lenses still work a treat .
I have some 1990s Pentax Zooms now , but 35mm suits me best . [ old habits ]
I can't forgive Sony for killing off the Minolta AF mount , let alone all these mirrorless cameras .
Respect
dee

I spotted this extremely shiny Shelby Cobra at the Coppell (TX) Car Show last September. The polished aluminum looks like chrome! DA16-45 on K10D.

Just for something different, today I put the DA 18-135 and the K10D and went on a ferry ride.

The Fantasea Ferry.

Blue plastic(?) boat.

Palm Beach ferry wharf.

I used to know it but I have forgotten the name of this flower. Fortunately, it's photogenic.

I love it. Too many people nowadays would spoil a shot like that by trying to bring out too much unnecessary shadow detail in the trees, but for my money your exposure choice is just perfect. I could look at that one for ages soaking up the atmosphere. One of those rare photographs that I'd give ten likes to if I could.

Thanks, so much, Dave and Mike!

So much is accidental in getting a shot like this when the light is changing so quickly. I did play with adjusting the exposure levels in the digital file, but there were only two things that seemed to matter most: keeping the exposure bright enough for the brighter ember-like spots showing through the woods on the right and dark enough that the fine branches in the distance, along the power line right-of-way, showed as sharply silhouetted. When I got those things to work, it looked pretty natural to me.

Lovely. That first shot is a classic composition, and well rendered. Photo book stuff!
