K10D & Amigo 31.

Okay, you've got to be having a blast with that setup. How cool! I don't have the 77 or 31, but I do have the 43. Here's a shot I took with it and the K10D a few days ago.

Thanks! I'm loving the setup however I did have to clean the sensor on my K10D (actually cleaned it on both K10Ds) because some photos had a huge banana shape black mark in them. When I opened up the camera and looked at it sure enough there was a banana shape piece of dust/hair on the sensor.

Also, I don't know if it's because of the K10Ds autofocus or shooting almost wide open but I seem to get a lot of photos to come out blurry and out of focus, more so than with any other camera. And I do wait for the green autofocus confirmation in the viewfinder to appear before taking photo. I need to do further testing/shooting to see what the issue is.

I think it might be user error though because for the last couple years I've been shooting medium format film (GA645) and I've shot mostly landscapes at f16 where everything was in focus, not to mention the GA645 has one of the sharpest lenses ever made.

The k10d af is not the easiest to use from time to time.
You could do a calibration test with the lens used.
If the lens is mf, I learned to ignore the green points completly. The were not half as precise as me just looking through the view finder.e

After owning a Nikon D40, D90, D7100, D700 and then going to 35mm film and then 6X4.5 and even 6X9 film and then to Sigma DP Merrill and then to DP Quattro 3 I found out by accident about Pentax and how special the K10D is.


I am in the process of selling all of my camera gear and sticking with the K10D. I just got the camera about 3 weeks ago and they offer such a bang for the buck that I bought another one! The prices on these have bottomed out!




From two different auctions, and for under $170 shipped I have:


2 K10Ds (one has 18,307 clicks on it and the other 6,373!) Shutter is good for 150,000.
5 batteries
1 official battery grip
2 chargers
4 bags (2 of them just for the camera and 2 larger ones that hold everything else)
2 18-55 II DA lenses
1 manual





Oh yeah, and I also bought two of the "Amigos". I am attaching some photos shot with Amigo 31.



Yesterday I just bought the Amigo 77 and it should be here soon. These lenses are about $1,000 new but you can find them for about 60% off used on ebay. The Amigo 77 I bought on Amazon with a bunch of gift cards so basically it only cost me like $150.




The K10D is an awesome camera and the features it has totally blow away all of my previous Nikons away.




All photos are SOOC, with 0% photoshop/lightroom. The last photo was converted in camera from color to B&W just to show you how special the processor is. I love the SOOC photos, less time spent in LR for someone like me who is not a pro!

Nice pictures, typical K10D colors. I find that if you use a lens that naturally has a lot of contrast and saturation, like the DA Limiteds or something like the Pentax-M 28mm f/3.5, or even the Pentax-A 24mm f/2.8, the results can be stunning...

Welcome to the fold. It speaks volumes that you are selling your stuff to stick with the K10D. Maybe I should buy a 2nd one especially considering that mine has electronic gremlins. They ought to go up in price as more people like you find out how good these CCD sensors are...

Haven't you heard that you can't do BIF with older Pentax cameras? I guess you haven't Great shots, great colors!

Ok I have a lot of GAS for the DA 70mm and you're making it worse. Great rendering on those shots... when that little lens works it just works!

If anyone has any doubt that the K10D can easily give that slide film look, this is all the proof they need...

I never get tired of looking at the pictures you come up with, or of saying how nice they are Same with most others here in the Club actually!

I guess I shouldn't be saying this but since my K10D has issues and is probably not worth anything, when it came time to clean the sensor I actually used a slightly damp 100% cotton fabric and just cleaned it with my hands. No issues as there is a film protecting the sensor (AA filter?). Worked like a charm.
I've never done it to any other cameras though, as I felt I could get another K10D for less than the cost of a CLA if something went wrong.
The K10D does seem to attract more dust than my other Pentax other cameras, but it's not that bad and usually a rocket blower will take care of things.

The one issue I did have with my K10D from the time I bought it was that the AF was off - for all lenses. I had to do an AF adjustment and took a while doing test shots to make sure it was good. I found I needed something like +270 which is almost the adjustment limit (which I think is 300 either way). But my focus now is right on with the DA 35 2.4 and F 50 1.7. I haven't tested it with other lenses because I prefer manual focus lenses on the K10D most of the time...
