I sacrifice for the sake of my art every full moon. Usually a live sheep or goat. I'm just not willing to get wet for my art.

This is a serious question. Has anyone successfully used the K10D for action shots? I've been trying to get some photos of my 5 year old running around or swinging on a swing or tire swing and her face always comes out somewhat blurry. I have two K10D cameras and kit lens plus the 31 and 77 amigos and they all come out the same. Someone already mentioned using the back focus button and center square only and I've tried that as well.
* I would shoot in manual focus mode. I shoot mainly manual focus lenses on my K10D anyway, mostly shooting my small stable of AF lenses with my K-R.
* Then, I'd try to shoot only shutter speeds of 1/500th sec or faster, too freeze action -- unless I was panning the camera with the action, then maybe I'd go down to 1/125th.
* To be able to stop down a little, and get a little depth-of-field, I'd probably dial the ISO up to 400. I nearly always shoot my K10D at ISO at 100.
* Then I'd focus on an area where the action is either continually passing through or is likely to pass through, and snap away when it gets there.

All of my suggestions are conditional, because I hardly every shoot action shots. I'm a slow, pokey, methodical photographer. The breeze moving what I'm trying to shoot is the main action I contend with.

The DA Limiteds and tthe K10D seem like a match made in heaven ... I am now convinced that I will have the 70 and the 21 in addition to my 35mm f/2.8 Macro... I'm also c onvinced that the low prices of the SMC versions are here to stay - though in the case of the 21mm I think i'd rather have the HD, I think it's the one that has the most difference between the HD and SMC versions. Hopefully this year!

I like the 70 ltd a lot. I equally like the M 100 2.8. A step below the FA 35mm and FA 50mm.

Across the clapper bridge and over the leat. Or if you prefer it in non-Devonian English: Across the conveniently positioned big flat stone and over the man-made stream.

I have a question about using the battery grip. Under the Menu/Settings/Battery settings it always shows the 2nd battery as crossed out. I read through the PDF manual and I'm not understanding how those icons work. When does the lower battery light up green like the top one?

I'm thinking either the battery contacts have a problem...although release works fine...or the body requires a battery, dead or not, for the grip battery to work (?).

I have to ask the really obvious things first, so please understand that these questions are NOT intended to insult your intelligence:

Is there actually a battery installed in the grip? (The grip hasn't got a built-in battery, it needs a D-Li150.)
Have you swapped the batteries between the body and the grip to see if you get the same result?
Have you tried it with no battery in the body, but a battery in the grip only?

Again, sorry if these seem like insultingly obvious questions. I just want to make sure you've tried those steps.
