Originally posted by Pan Kleks This is a serious question. Has anyone successfully used the K10D for action shots? I've been trying to get some photos of my 5 year old running around or swinging on a swing or tire swing and her face always comes out somewhat blurry. I have two K10D cameras and kit lens plus the 31 and 77 amigos and they all come out the same. Someone already mentioned using the back focus button and center square only and I've tried that as well.
* I would shoot in manual focus mode. I shoot mainly manual focus lenses on my K10D anyway, mostly shooting my small stable of AF lenses with my K-R.
* Then, I'd try to shoot only shutter speeds of 1/500th sec or faster, too freeze action -- unless I was panning the camera with the action, then maybe I'd go down to 1/125th.
* To be able to stop down a little, and get a little depth-of-field, I'd probably dial the ISO up to 400. I nearly always shoot my K10D at ISO at 100.
* Then I'd focus on an area where the action is either continually passing through or is likely to pass through, and snap away when it gets there.
All of my suggestions are conditional, because I hardly every shoot action shots. I'm a slow, pokey, methodical photographer. The breeze moving what I'm trying to shoot is the main action I contend with.
