Something I was not expecting for today. After a few days of intermittent rain up came the mushrooms. K10D and SMC Pentax-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR.

Maybe they came down in this spaceship...

Socially distanced sunset on the golf course this evening. With Cox Tor and Staple Tor away in the distance, reminding me that the real Dartmoor is still out there but out of bounds for now. It's a shame there was no light on the ground, but the rainbow was nice.

Thank you, Mark. I'm glad that you liked it because it was a bit of a challenge getting that one.

You have done it again, Colton. You have captured a scene that many of us, myself included, would have walked past thinking "Nothing to see here" and yet you have given life to what would seem to be mundane. There is also a subtlety to your colours. They appear to be desaturated compared to what I would expect from a K10D. Is that part of your PP? Do you desaturate the colours? There's nothing wrong with that, if you do. I am just curious.

I like the light in the clouds, Dave. I agree that a bit more light on the ground would have been better but we can't have everything! This social distancing is a necessary pain but it does seem to be a challenge which is helping us to take photos that we might not have taken before and that can't be a bad thing.

Thanks Paul. And Ray for your kind comment too,

The lens is the cheap plastic mount 18-55mm WR, which is all I'm using at the moment because I need autofocus until I can find a way to get my eyesight sorted for manual focusing again. Manual focusing is a nightmare when you can only see in focus out of the corner of your eye rather than looking directly at things.

I've been putting some work into custom profiling that lens, and I'm actually starting to like the results now. Much "punchier" than my Takumar style. That shot is basically straight from the camera raw file, just cropped and with the white and black points set.

Thank you, Ray.
I have been shooting nearly 100 percent film for the better part of the past 6 years. Partially because of the cameras, but mostly because of the look that you get from well scanned color negative film.
Recently I got inspired to create an Adobe Camera Raw processing preset that would take RAW files from a DSLR and give it more of a color negative film look. I wouldn't say I succeeded in doing that , but I do feel I came up with a recipe that I really like and that in turn has inspired me to shoot with my K10D again.
I am more than happy to share the ACR preset with anyone, but yes, part of the preset involves lower contrast and lower saturation.

Today it was the turn of my Super Tak 85mm f1.9 which was a gift that I bought for myself for my 60th birthday. Both images shot at f1.9 in AV mode.

Geraniums on the nature strip.

Mitsubishi ASX (not mine!) with a touch of Orton Effect.
