Nice shot

Thanks, Mike.

Good luck on mending it! We saw a lot of people walking away with pieces of it as souvenirs, so it looks like you'll need to fill in some more small gaps with new construction.

From May 2010 when Escuadrilha da Fumaça (from Brasil) visited Buenos Aires - Argentina and gave us an amazing show.

I remember this picture because I was panning the plane from the left and I did not see the moment they crossed through the viewfinder so I got a bit excited because "I got the exact moment!???" and yes! i did!

Ugly colors but backlight and bad photoshop skills... hehehe

The swans are building a new nest. No, I don't know why! But spring is approaching. K10D and Super-Takumar f3.5 28mm Model II.

More of the native Hibiscus - I really was quite taken with it. K10d & F 35-80 f4-5.6. I was also more than passingly pleased with this lens, bought at a local auction for very little with no other bidders;

Hmmm... might post these on the bokeh thread as well...

Unless you cropped this image strongly you must be getting pretty to close tot the birds building their new home.
Which leaves the question what kind of disguise did you use
No, a description will not do Pictures

That image was not cropped, Paul. I have been photographing those swans for a few months now and I think that they are used to me - that crazy guy with a funny black thing stick to his face!
I was using an old screw mount 28mm Takumar which is 42mm equivalent on a crop body. I went back today and took another image with my wonderful 15mm Limited to give you a better idea of the location.
For yesterday's image I was actually standing on one of the rocks in the foreground. No disguises were used for the production of either image.

There was and is a part of the wall outside my late Grandmothers house in Newcastle.

Hard to believe you were able to come so close to these birds. The 28 mm gives about the AOV of a standard lens.
These images make two no three things clear:
Older Pentax glass with a K10d can easily beat recently developed lenses with high MP bodies. Color rendering is superb.
Ray must have been feeding these birds day after day to make them trust him to come so near.
I take your word for it but still have some doubts about the outfit you were wearing..................
