I do like that first one - window & reflection make a really good background .

Another, better lit, photo of the tick, or tongue, orchid in flower, Pentax K10d & SMC D-FA 50mm f2.8 Macro;

Very nice. Flowers are my main thing so winter is a real drag. I'm thinking of buying some flowers at the store to use as models.

Wonder what happened to Le Rolls? I very much enjoyed his work, from a purely professional viewpoint, I mean.

Here is one with the Zeiss Distagon 35/2 at F2. It's difficult colours to work with.

One of my favorite parks in CA was/is the Los Trancos Open Preserve in Palo Alto. I used to go up there when I was out at NASA Ames Research Center on business because you had a good view of the facility from the mountains, looking to the northeast. I would take pictures of it from there. The trails all had signs warning people to watch out (and listen!) for rattlesnakes. Sometimes made for a little excitement!

Just out of the frame in my photo above, just opposite the trail sign, is a rattlesnake warning sign. Luckily I didn't encounter any that day!

Thank you, glinda. Thanks also go to my wife for alerting me to their presence. They don't stay still for very long so I didn't get many keepers and they were gone after about 5 minutes but I made the most of their short stay.

.... and they know when you've got a camera, little blighters. Takes a feeding frenzy for them to forget themselves so you get a good look.

My wife bought me the plastic fantastic DA 35mm f2.4 AL for Christmas. It is my first experience of a plastic mount lens and though it does feel cheep I gobsmacked at the quality vs value. It is a lens I can see me using quite a lot.

Just a quick one of the hound

Merry Christmas!
