Took my two new manual primes on a trip through the old town of Lübeck today and got a few nice photos. I'm still impressed by the resolution and sharpness of gear that's 13+ years old.

Went photo shooting in the city with a friend on Sunday, and took a trip through the forest yesterday. It was quite lovely

And I've taken some incredible close-up shots with my new Phenix 50mm F/1.7, I thought it would be one of those cheap modern imitates like you see with new cassette players, but I've been proven wrong. I love the bokeh.
Here are two examples as links since three posts are already one too many in my opinion: _IGP7365 | Leon Blankenhorn | Flickr , A Dream of Grain | Leon Blankenhorn | Flickr
And wouldn't you know, the postman has just brought a new toy for me - a Tokina 80-200mm zoom lens. I'll never get enough of that feeling of cool, sturdy metal and old craftsmanship.

Out for a walk one day I noticed these just inside someones' fence line, and pulling a camera out to photograph them I saw the homeowner come flying out into the front yard so stopped to talk with her. She said she was relieved to see me pull the camera out as she thought I was going to pick them. She explained that they are old fashioned Gerberas, and offered to divide one and give me some. I declined, as I have trouble looking after what I already have but did look them up online afterwards. There is more, apparently, to the humble gerbera than I thought. Great picture and great story! Thank you for sharing that.

These gerberas look a bit like giant dandelions... (showing my ignorance here )

Thanks! - it does get so complicated . Last year I found out that many of yellow daisy flowers I thought were dandelions are actually "false dandelions", and there are 12 or 16 species of those, they're not all related, and the differences can be small and subtle...
