Appreciate the nice words, Dave. Once in awhile the stars & planets align just right!

Tell you what! Those images can give any camera a run for it's money (at these image sizes anyway). I still give my K10d a loving stroke each week in the vane hope of it suddenly bursting into life... Sigh![COLOR="Silver"]

Hello, all! I've been a non-working member of the club for a few weeks, meaning I scored a nice K10-D, but hadn't been out with it. I mainly plan to use it with vintage lenses. I'm reading about the exposure accuracy issues...so I'll probably ask about that later. Today, I went out with the "Stack of Primes" A- 35-105 zoom and the M 150.3.5. I didn't use the 150 much, but with the zoom I ran into an issue where one of two things would happen: If I took a shot, I couldn't immediately shoot again without getting a second focusing confirmation (red box and beep), OR, if I got the confirmation (center sensor) and re-framed, the camera wouldn't fire. So, is there a setting I'm missing? Some sort of user error? Thanks for any help.
page 130 of the manual says the K10d won't fire the shutter in AF-S unless you have focus lock. There is a hexagonal focus lock indicator in the centre of the viewfinder info panel. So before shooting your second shot you need to ensure that it has regained focus lock. Regarding re-framing, you would need to keep the shutter button half pressed having gained focus lock if you wanted to reframe. (or hold the AF button whilst you reframe).

Thanks for the info. Not having a manual for the new-to-me camera... Holding it half pressed didn't work, I'll confirm when I get home, but that's what confused me. It did allow me to reframe when using a DA lens.

I've recently gotten my hands on a cheap Maginon 500mm F/8 Super-Tele - a steal at 30€. Today I sat on a bench in a park nearby, next to a lake, and got plenty of opportunity to try to photograph different birds.
A fair amount of sunlight thankfully allowed me to shoot free-hand, at F/11-F/16, and even catch a few birds in flight, moderately sharp. Quick manual focussing is something I still need to learn....

Getting a sharp picture was far more difficult than on any other lens I own, and I also had serious chromatic aberration.
Now I realize why you pay 1000+ for a "good" super-tele but I still feel like I got my money's worth.

First a picture from my new favourite go-to lens: One of the legendary SMC 50mm F/1.7. Go outside, people, and enjoy the springtime!

And one of the decently sharp images from the 500mm. There are plenty more on my Flickr, I don't want to flood the forum

DA18-135 on K10D - I missed focus on the foreground, but I kind of like the smoothing effect on the sand!

First one with DA 35 Limited and the other two with Rikenon XR 50mm f/1.4 stuck wide open (I did it for the bokeh... nothing's quite like that lens for bokeh...)

I thought these lenses worked out well as a set. The pictures just had basic level adjustments in RawTherapee and I then applied the Kodachrome 64 emulation.

The first is my favourite. Is that your Telecaster?

Yes... it's a "partscaster" or "Frankencaster" based on a 70s Tele. I got it on a trade many years ago... an amazing guitar despite the fact that I think the body might be an old Squire body. The neck is a Warmoth with rosewood and birds-eye maple, and it's beautiful - and very thick... so the notes ring out beautifully. Two humbuckers for that Jimmy Page feel and sound. Originally I got it with some hot Seymour Duncan pickups but I've since bought some cheap chinese PAF Pro copies that sound amazing, I would never trade them back for Seymours (I used to have the Seymour Duncan 59s on an ES-335 copy, and they didn't nail that PAF sound like these chinese pickups do...)

With one of my favorite combinations - K10D and Sigma 30 1.4 Art. Same simple PP treatment.
