Well, that turned out nicely: I seen a K10D bundle on ebay, 'damaged' of course, because it's stuck in debug mode... 1.5hours later (yeah, yeah, I use linux, and the exact structure of the saved file wasn't right) I've got it out of debug mode. Hell yeah.
Mainly wanted the battery grip for my K20D (I believe they are the same?). And it come with a simga 28-90 macro kit type lens and a tamron 35-70 3.5 manual focus by the looks, something I know nothing of. 4 batteries, remote cable etc etc..
Stoked I got it out of debug mode, I assume it's fully functional. I'll try to get out on the week end, see what we got!

It really looks incredible. How did you manage to get the background so deeply black?

The sun here is often very strong and directional, casting deep shadows that help highlight bright colors. In this case these last direct rays of the sun were shining obliquely over the back yard fence, coming into the yard to my back door where the potted begonia lived, with the fence casting the deep shadow behind it. I think I only had to nudge the black slider up a little in processing to get this, but not far. I remember it did darken some of the deeper oranges in the flower, but I was still happy with that. I've just posted a similar photo in the CCD thread that is pretty well SOOC, and taken a minute or two earlier with the little Optio A30 before I ran inside to see if I could do just a bit better with the K10, and there is not much difference in the background tone.

k10 D with bellows, 20 mm ext tube and tak 100mm bellows lens

I was testing outsome gear... no tripod on these macros, I really didnt expect to keep any shots.. but was pleasantly surprised by a few.

abstract maple flower

such tiny flowers on a maple tree hide some real beauty.

and sorry if this one "bugs" anyone, we are just starting to see some arthropods awaken here for spring.

sow bugs aka woodlouse

super low maintenance pets for kids btw...sow bugs aka woodlouse.

That last macro in particular looks breathtaking detail and so much colour, like the flower petals are enveloping the viewer.

I came across a Novoflex set, with macro bellows, and a PIGRIFF-B with 40cm and 60cm Novoflexar lenses relatively cheap as well.
I'll still have to hunt for a Pentax adapter for the PIGRIFF, but at least I can use the bellows already. They're for Minolta, but I have an adapter, and they even included an M42-Minolta ring and a Schneider-Kreuznach Componar 50mm F/4.5 I've only done a single test shot of a Lego minifigure so far, but the magnification looks impressive already, even with such a simple lens.
And that Novoflexar....when I turned a ring and saw those 24 (25? difficult to count ) aperture blades close, my heart skipped a beat. It's yet another gorgeous piece of old craftsmanship.

They look both credible and beautiful to me, given the close focus and the light, and I think they are nicely processed.

Edit - come to think of it, while out driving round, I'm not averse to the incredible either, so long as it has some aesthetic appeal or illustrative purpose. I just prefer it's based in the photographic reproduction or interpretation of what someone has seen. It's good to put this into words - helps me think about what I'm trying to do when I take a photograph .

Thanks so much Ray. The K10D really captured that particular orange-red tone of the flowers.
