Thanks. Given that the lens was the much reviled (by others, but not by me!) FA 28-80mm, I was impressed by the results!
I have to say I'm one of those people
I just don't like its design, it falls in that uncomfortable "in-between" category of plastic bodies between vintage and modern cameras for me.

I understand, but when I purchased it, I was still shooting film (using a PZ-20) and, over the years, I've learned how to get as much out of it as I could. It was my walk around lens for a long time and doesn't get much use any more, since I got the HD DA 16-85mm for that purpose on my K-3II.

Interesting take on "cosmetics"; I don't care what a lens looks like on the outside -- as long as it makes good images.

So I came across this fellow in our local pond today. Theres a ton eastern painters in this pond, but this isn't one. Its a red eared slider, an exotic for our pond that often get let go in native waters when Turtle owners tire of caring for their Red eared sliders. They are a problem in alot of states (read) In CT we are seeing them more and More. Unfortunately I could not catch it but I will try next time.

Eastern Painted Turtle,

I never said it was rational
Maybe I've been tainted by my decision to start off with vintage lenses. I just love how they feel, cool metal and solid clicks everywhere.
My 18-55mm kit lens seems like the exact opposite, even though it also makes great images and has good ergonomics.
At the end of the day, I'm not shooting because I want the very best image quality, although that's a part of the enjoyment, of course. I want to enjoy the entire process, and that includes seeing and handling my camera equipment.

Speaking of vintage, I just managed to snatch up a Super Takumar 135mm 3.5 on eBay these last days I'm having a serious and severe case of Gear Acquisition Syndrome....

Of course, I am sure that you know that there is no cure. You might go into remission for a short period but that won't last. Don't ask me how I know.

The newly completed Terrigal Boardwalk linking The Haven and Terrigal Beach around a rough and rocky headland and providing flat and level access for all. It was opened last wednesday April 14 and is proving to be very popular. K10D and Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.0 DC Macro Contemporary and a bright and sunny autumn day which was perfect for the K10D. Processed with ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2021.

Yes, Paul, it is a great addition to our community. Of course, there were a few who objected to its being built but the numbers using it are proof that it is appreciated. I took many images yesterday and will be back again and again. It is also lit at night and I intend to capture that as well. More images to come.
