My K30 hit the floor today

There was an incident...involving a table top and a dog...

It had an external flash attached. The flash snapped off taking part of the hot shoe and the underlying circuit board. Ironically the lens, external flash and camera all still work but the onboard flash doesn't.

Has anyone ever had such a serious amount of damage? Was it repairable? For a decent price?

I was sick to my stomach this afternoon just thinking about it but that is getting me nowhere. Will call Pentax/Ricoh tomorrow.

Check your household contents insurance (presuming you have it) This is clearly accidental, and happened in the house, so you may be covered.

I had a dropped K-x repaired by Pentax US (CRIS) a couple years ago for a little over US$100. They replaced the cracked chin plate, bent screwdrive linkage, mount plate, and a couple other parts. I did have to wait a month for parts.

CRIS is really good. They fixed me K-7 when the mount's ground pin shorted in about three weeks.

WOW Yikes!! So sorry that happened to you! Years ago it used to be the flash foot that would break before the mount.

Interesting to note that it's still fine outside of the flash.

I dropped my *istDS a few years back and same thing, onboard flash dead, but the rest fine (apart from the lens having some play in the focus now, so the AF isn't great. Not sure if it's an issue with the body, or the lens, since I only own one AF lens)

I was quoted a couple of hundred dollars to fix mine, but decided against it since the camera isn't even worth that.

Oh dear, sounds like a try to the friendly repair man is going to be in order.
