So I got out on Black Friday; not what you think, I had one errand to run and it wasn't for shopping...lol. Of course I decide to visit a local store which is on the other side of town (meaning I don't get over there often) but it was a nice day and traffic wasn't too bad if one stayed away from the malls. This of course paid off in spades because hanging on the rack were a couple of body caps for Pentax M42 I'd been meaning to get but haven't 'gotten around to ordering online. Problem solved.

So I'm up at the counter paying for my purchase and I hear a tapping on the glass. Sitting between a pair of Nikons with its paws on the glass whimpering was a K-5iis. Talk about deja-vu; last time this happened it was my beloved K100DS and I simply LOVE that camera. (I almost regret not finding it sooner, like before the D50 that shares the bag with it BUT...) Not too many places in town carry Pentax. Scratch that. This is the only shop that actually has new Pentax cameras in stock. (I don't count big box because they don't stock them but they're available online and I don't shop big box if I can avoid it)

The salesman was more than happy to let me 'look'. It had a Sigma 18-200 stuck on it and surprise surprise, I kind of liked it. Fast focus, what little fiddling I did it seemed pretty good...but I digress.

All I can say is...wow...wow!!! I like the menu system; very simple and I figured 90% of it just fiddling in the first couple of minutes. Smaller than my D50 (and of course the D7000/7100's I've been looking at) but it definitely doesn't feel cramped to my big mitts. It focuses very fast, quiet, I liked the backlight top LCD and in short, it sure looks like this is going to be my next (If I don't get a K-5ii for $599 which is a SUPER deal)
