Don't butcher the lens!!! If you don't want the aperture lever, just undo the screws holding the mount onto the lens and remove the lever. Then it can go back on a later time.

Still don't butcher the lens. There is a finite supply of good condition vintage glass. I would suggest that if one wants a non-A contact lens to use in Av mode that they simply buy something in M42 screw mount. Another alternative would be to buy a new Mitakon or one of the fully manual Samyang video lenses in K-mount.

Again, I still don't see why somebody would want to opt for inaccurate stop-down metering in M-mode and the hassle of a fully manual aperture when accurate metering and auto-aperture are available in M mode. Go figure...

yep.

people be the crazy.

What I like is how metering is this dark form of bizarre witchcraft, Where everyone seems to be searches for the "perfect" exposure. As if there is but a few in the wild and you have to be careful to obtain them like pokemon trading cards??

Lucky for me, butchering a lens belonging to me, worth a few $, I'm not committing a crime....one failed experiment of another sort on an old lens, left it useless in the end... so what, I enjoyed the process, and surely won't go to hell for doing it...
