Firmware update issue on K-50

Hi,

Last night I attempted to update the fw (v1.01) on my K-50 and something a little strange happened. After the update completed and the camera turned off, I then proceeded to take out the SD Card to format it on my PC (couldve done so on the camera but it didnt occur to me at the time). I then tried switching off and on the camera again (since it was in the ON position but it was basically shutdown after the update). It wouldnt turn ON. I took out the battery and put it back in again and nothing. I froze for a minute thinking that my camera had become inoperable. I then put the SD card and switched it on again and everything came back on like normal. I checked the firmware and it was the new one, and i took a couple of pics and everything looked fine.
Is that normal? Doesnt the camera let you know that there is no SD card in the slot?

Hi,

Yes it does... There is an indicator at the bottom right side of your LCD screen that will be a red rectangle with a line through it.

From the caution section on page 53 of your manual;

"Be sure to fully close the card cover. The camera will not turn on if the card
cover is open."
