I have become weak again...

... and gave in.

Just a few months ago I sold my K-30, in order to safe some money on LBA and to concentrate on my Ricoh GR.
While I am totally happy with my Ricoh, I now got weak and could not resist anymore...

1.) After the K-3 launched, prices for the K-5IIs did not seem so bad anymore in Japan.
2.) Also the current exchange rate JPY/EUR is incredibly good for purchases with my European credit card...

Which means I am now posses a brand new K-5IIs, for the price of 73,625 JPY (that's 526 €).

Just wanted to share my happy feelings with you

In general I think the K-5iis should be a slight upgrade to the K-30 (which was already great for me) and I now have a BLACK camera.
I have to admit that after a while I was a little bit annoyed with the fact that I bought my K-30 in white...

Now to go picture hunting with my good old 50 and 28 mm manual lenses, while I figure out what lenses I NEED for my K-5IIs.
Since the Ricoh should handle "walk-around-y" stuff and wide shots quite well, I am looking for something along the lines 50-200 or 300.
I had the DA 55-300 which is incredibly good value for the low price, but the focus hunting with the slow motor was a bit annoying..

Any suggestions are welcome ;-)

Cheers
René

ha...I hear you about the white camera. I initially purchased a K-50 in white and it was fine but it eventually returned in for a black K-3 and never looked back
Enjoy your new K-5 IIs !

Update:
Now my lens set is also complete (for some time at least, i hope).

Got the Pentax DA 55-300 and the Tamron 17-50 F2.8

Tamron is brand new, can't wait to try it out (maybe some midnight photography is due today).

You're not helping me with that
I need more encouragement in the line of "oh yeah, totally, those lenses should get you covered for a long time..."

You know, if I keep telling myself, I might start believing it.

That's great! Those lenses should keep you covered until you see something else you want

Well your just in the right place here, with lots of other folk who require no justification at all, to further their equipment treasure trove.

No justification?! I can justify all my lenses!

Something wide: 8mm FE, 10-20mm, 15mm
Something fast: 55 f/1.2, 50mm f/1.4
Something long: 55-300mm
... Well, you get my drift!

I thought you said the 55-300 was 'annoyingly slow'?

It is. But my wallet is annoyingly thin

Would have loved to have a better lens for at least up to 200mm, but although it is slow, the IQ is really good on the 55-300, so... compromise away.

Anyhow, up to now those 2 are fine.
Will see how they fare on my offroad-motorcycle tour in Thailand starting tomorrow.
(would have started today, but Tokyo can't handle puny 10cm of snow, so all traffic to the airport stopped... I am so pissed right now)
