There are few things more important than cars.

Breathing and eating come to mind.

And for me, Mrs. Racer.

I came very close to getting into an Audi. A hobby of mine for years was to buy VW turbo diesels and fix them up. We had some excellent vendors with great prices on very good parts. But, always wanted an Audi. I can very close to buying a salvage A4 that had been wrecked. The guy had all the parts to put it back together but lost interest. I'm glad I didn't go through with it now as I wouldn't have been able to afford any lenses for a very long time.......

That red car is blocking your pic of a money pit (my house was a money pit for the first 3 years of ownership, today it's cheap because the roof, kitchen, windows, siding are done).

That house was a huge money pit, bought it as a "fixer upper" and sold it in November after I moved to California

Yeah, houses can be ginormous sinkholes.

I am afraid not, I have many more expensive hobbies. That 9ft Schimmel grand piano, the 8ft harpsichord, the double organ . Home recording studio. Home theater. All these add up to close to 6 figures. The camera gear is barely on the radar price wise.

I wish our house had some kind of fruited trees or even pine cones. Instead, all I have are a bunch of stumps left behind when they removed whatever trees were here before they built the house...

Not my most expensive hobby in absolute terms, but generally the purchases are the highest cost and thus most visible. Of course, it's probably one of my more easily shared and satisfying hobbies.

Plus, I don't have the space for a real arbor saw...
