Both use the Prime-M processor.
Besides the lack of optical viewfinder, I think the other biggest difference is the AF method.

Interesting, there's hope then, would you be interested in risking bricking your camera?

Errr, nope, I use it way too much.

However, once you have mastered the K30, I'd be willing to contribute to the next campaign to get a K-01 to experiment on.

Shodan, can you also increase dynamic range of pentax k30 with your firmware?. I saw that some canon camera with magic lantern can do this!

And also, can you make a youtube video with same comparision or feature between the stock firmware and your firmware?

Another question I don't know if is possible..but there is a change to increse AF EV stop? Our camera has -1 ev in autofocus. Can you increase it to -3 ev like the pentax k5II??

Thanks so much for your time and sorry for bad english!

Dynamic range is a function of the sensor and the amplifiers attached to it - I'd very much like to see where it's quoted that ML can increase the Dynamic Range.

I do know that on some bodies, ML can allow access to higher ISO settings, shutter speeds, and to shooting 'Raw' video. Raw video is basically full dynamic range and data per video frame, rather then having the dynamic range limited to REC709 standards.

And just to be clear for anyone reading who doesn't know, Dynamic Range is the number of stops difference between the darkest and lightest element on the frame that are not under or over exposed - the upper and lower limits of brightness that the camera can see at any particular ISO/Iris/Shutter speed combination.

Right-oh,... that's as complex as heck!

And it's not 'real' dynamic range, it's multiplexing two different ISO settings to simulate a larger dynamic range.
Sure is an interesting approach though. I'm curious about how the multiplexing deals with the higher noise in the ISO1600 lines of vision, when compared to the ISO100 lines.

Yes, but lets wait till Shadowman has success on the K-30 first.

Custom Firmware features

I know in general people aren't supposed to ask for features, Shodan. However, would it be a good idea to survey people about most desired features?

Hello,

It's not a same Model number of K5 for K-r, but .504 is right.

Is there an idea to reload firmware , when first load/flash of firmware failed ?

I need to boot on bootstrat and loader

I have a copy of CPU and DSP ( of second K-r)

Thank a lot for proposal ....
