Does this PDF exist yet? What is the method needed for the K-5 with latest firmware?

Well that was counter-intuitive but thank you.
Lensroms from a number of lenses just emailed.

I would like to say that there is a "how to" to enable debug menu.

But...i didn't receive an email from you.

Weird. I sent a boatload of lens files. Pm me and I can send you an email to reply to me on. Maybe then we can get my email to you. As for what to do / how to - I only have fully documented the k100d process.

Why your gov. restrict GPS logging on DSLR when every smartphone can do it? Can be this function turned on/off in camera menu?
Not my government, I'm not Chinese :-) But agree, it's super stupidity beyond understanding.

For K-1 to enter Debug Mode you should create files 00077970.560 and DEVELOP.MOD.

UPDATED 09.08.16: note different file extension
  1. File 00077970.562 should contain [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] and LF char.
  2. File DEVELOP.MOD must be exact 10 bytes long and its content should be entered in file hexeditor:
    EITHER hex bytes: 07 01 2C 1F 10 03 1E 16 05 2D enables Development Menu 1-6
    OR hex bytes: 07 1A 02 0A 19 18 1B 1C 05 11 enables Development Menu 1-7
Then turn off camera, plugin this SD card. Leave card door open. Hold "menu" button and turn camera on.

Post screenshots of camera entering debug mode as proof.
Would it be possible to update the required hex bytes for the most current K-1 firmware?

I tried those values in your quote with v1.40 and it worked. So they are still the same.

Given Pentax are looking (apparently) to restore mechanical stabilisation during video (for the KP and K-1 camera models) this might be a good chance for a comparison of their current vs new firmwares, to spot where this change is being made.

Hopefully Pentax role this out to more older models, but there has been no mention of that presently.

It's understood that mechanical stabilisation is being used during live view, but that this is then disabled when video starts, suggesting all the capabilities for real Mechanical Stabilisation in video are actually there, and it's just a decision somewhere in the software to opt to disable it during video mode.

I've just managed to flash firmware 1.10 for K-50 into my K-30
The camera seems to work fine. The only issue I've encountered so far was all the settings reset to the factory defaults. Not a big deal.
In EXIF, K-50 is now saved as expected.

This isn't a joke. I've uploaded some proof-pics here.

Unfortunately, I don't have either Eye-Fi card, or 55-300 PLM to test the main K-50 features.

Update:
ISO 51200 is now available and works.

Impressive.

I wonder how far this could go? Maybe I can flash the K-P firmware onto my K-3.

Cool. So my theory actually worked.. Thanks for being brave enough to try! You should have KAF4 / PLM support..

No.. really wouldn't try that. The K-50 firmware only works on the K-30 because its the same hardware (apparently). Ricoh just changed the body shell and tweaked the firmware. The KP is most certainly not using the same hardware as the K-3.

Body and external controls are different , but bits and pieces of the hardware seem identical, like the viewfinder, RGB meter and the whole AF assembly. Maybe the improved AF algorithms might come across though. .

Just joking.

It is a nice thought at least.

But the only thing that might come across is your K-3 in a UPS box across the country to Precision for repair after it has bricked.
