Ahhh,... the one that does the uncompressed clean feed output.

Which is basically proof that the video firmware on the Pentax's is botched, as the hardware used is capable of doing the job properly.

nope, it does not proof anything. The chip is just one element. There are many others influencing the capabilities. Like RAM, how that RAM is connected, which io pins connected to what, IO in general...

Ricoh Pentax use Sony sensors, I do believe majority of them a very capable video sensors, I am more than sure DSLRs like Pentax K30 and up has sensors that are a lot more capable for video than Pentax devs let them be.

Probably indeed but comparing a D800 to a K-S1 and concluding the culprit is the chipset (or its programing) is far fetched to say the least.
The sensor may not be able to output the same way as D800 sensor. It may be too but IMO this is jumping to conclusion.

Can you, please, provide more information on this ?
Anyway, K-S1 TFT seems to have resolution 720x480.

Debug Menu K-S2

For the K-S2 exactly same procedure as described in this thread for the K-S1 but the model specific filename needs to be:
00077860.551

File name DEVELOP.MOD and contents of both files can be same as for K-S1

Well it is quite old in my poor brain.
As I recall, in they day there was software to edit Icons in Windows (when guys really took time doing such things) like MicroAngelo (Iconedit or something) and I remember the pink color in the background was in fact used for coding transparency.
What I'm almost certain is that, from specs, bitmap do not support transparency. Hence you need to set a color to be treated as transparent.
Usually it was (or is?) 255,0,255 or #FF00FF if you prefer.

Ok, I changed RGB to BGR. But still pinky at some places.
If it is transparent, then previous screenshot(loading) would not display anything at all

EDIT: pink word used FF 00 FF 00

Enabling "Serial input" on K-S1 doesn't make any difference. There are ~165 commands in serial shell, but only one command ("?") is possible to use in normal firmware binary.

Makes me want to learn this stuff and put in the effort myself. Would be nice to enable astrotracing on the k-01 one day.
