Thank you very much for your effort, bootcoder.

Now the natural open question is: What should be the combination for a K-1 with the new v1.2 firmware?

00077970.??? and DEVELOP.MOD

And could you please post how to find this out again?
I was posted somewhere along time ago, but I can not find it anymore. I remember that you can somehow read it in the firmware file and it changes with every new firmware revision.

For K-1 things are more complicated. It is similar to K-S1/2, where file alone is not enough. Do you have K-1?

There is no easy way to find it except disassembling/analyzing firmware.

I assume so, since the firmware decryption program fails on the K-1's firmware.
Yes, I have a K-1, but have no skills whatsoever in disassembly.

For K-1 to enter Debug Mode you should create files 00077970.560 and DEVELOP.MOD. File DEVELOP.MOD must be exact 10 bytes long and its content should be entered in file hexeditor:
EITHER hex bytes: 07 01 2C 1F 10 03 1E 16 05 2D enables Development Menu 1-6
OR hex bytes: 07 1A 02 0A 19 18 1B 1C 05 11 enables Development Menu 1-7

Then turn off camera, plugin this SD card. Leave card door open. Push "menu" button and switch On.

Post screenshots of camera entering debug mode as proof.
Sadly this does not work and the screen stays black.

UPDATED 09.08.16: note different file extension
  1. File 00077970.562 should contain [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] and LF char.
Hold "menu" button and turn camera on.

Post screenshots of camera entering debug mode as proof.

Many thanks and kudos to you, bootcoder.

Now it works. The two hex options you described actually lead the the very same result.
Using K-1 FW v1.20

We get 9 pages of development menu, which can be scrolled through via the backside e-dial.
And if you activate the debug mode there you get to one page of "Test Mode" as extra tab right before the custom settings (but I did not check if another "test mode" tab would appear with the other hex codes.

And you found no Easter eggs in there, like a Tetris game or a Pokemon?

I am disappointed by Ricoh.

Can you tell me, how to find out the post-fix/extension like ".562" myself?

I found the description using frmdecrypt.exe, but that doesnt seem to work on the K-1 files as it exits with an error.

Hey, that works for K3-II, but I only get one-page TEST menu with just a few settings. How should I change it to have a full developer menu? Something like beholder3 mentioned few posts ago.
What I'm looking for is a way to change region code, that (probably) will unlock GPS logging function on my Chinese version of K3II.
UPD: My bad, I should've looked for Region settings right after I turn camera instead of debug menu.
Did what I expected it to - now I have a GPS logging function working as it should be, despite Chinese government restrictions.

Why your gov. restrict GPS logging on DSLR when every smartphone can do it? Can be this function turned on/off in camera menu?

OK, I have put the tables together for a PDF giving instructions for putting Pentax DSLRs into debug mode. I have only a few cameras of recent years missing from the list and if anyone can help fill these gaps please contribute. The missing cameras are:

K-3ii
K-1

Listed so far are:

K-S1
K-S2
K-01
K10D
GX10
GX20
K20D
K200D
K-7
K-m
K-x
K2000
K-r
K-30
K-50
K-500
K-5
K-5ii
K-5iis
K-3
Does this PDF exist yet? What is the method needed for the K-5 with latest firmware?
