K10D Flash Question

Sorry, I'm a newbie to Pentax and have a simple and perhaps naive question

, on a K10D, does the flash automatically flip up like Canon SLR's(which I'm most familiar with) when you activate the shutter or do you have to manually pop the flash open? Thanks!

You have to manually pop it up.

Hi Ren, welcome to the forum.

It is manual. There is a button (lightning bolt) on the upper left hand side of the body just under the flash itself that pops it up.

It only pops up automatically if you set the camera to Green Mode on the exposure program dial, and Auto Discharge in the flash mode.

All other settings require the flash to be manually popped-up.

Manual - a good thing. Sometimes you don't want to shoot with flash, even though the micro-genius inside the camera thinks it's best.
