choose only one

there are a lot of different styles & subject matter involving personal preference but if you had to choose only one lens to have on your camera, what would it be?
I am tossed between my DA 12-24 /f4 and my DA 35mm limited macro, while I love shooting wide, I think that pushed to chose one of the other, I'd have to go with the DA 35 F2.8 Limited Macro
It would be considered the normal lens and the most ultimately the most practical.

OK.

On my K10 it would be the SMC Pentax-DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM.

On my *istDL it would be the SMC Pentax-D FA 50mm F2.8 Macro.

On my Ricoh XR2S it would be theSMC Pentax-M 50 F1.4.

I guess I have a thing for the 50's.

If I had to live with just one of my lenses forever it would be the DA* 16-50 because of its versatility. I can get some keepers of almost any subject with the 16-50. It goes a little wider than other medium range zooms and is WR.

Big sacrifice sticking to just one lens, though. I would miss the FA43's sharpness and pixie dust. I would miss my Tamron 10-24 for architecture and tight-space walkaround. The Samyang 14mm would be missed for astrophotography. And without my Sigma 50-500 or DAL 55-300 birding and other wildlife would be difficult.

Just one lens? Then I'd sell all my gear and just get a GR or something.

I was just thinking the same thing. If restricted to only one focal length, an interchangeable lens camera becomes pointless.

If I had to make a choice between those two, it would be the 12-24 without a second guess.
edit: my personal favorite would be DA*16-50.

It would have to be which ever one, was my current favourite "Lady" at the time.

They all get their turns too, I very fair about that.
