questions...

i have a pentax 67 with a 90mm smc 2.8 lens. i am selling the camera and i want to buy a DSLR and was going to buy maybe a canon 40D or something, no idea really. but it just occured to me that i could maybe use my lens with a pentax DSLR but no nothing about pentax DSLR's. i am selling the lens for 230.00$ is that too little a price? and should i keep it and get a pentax DSLR, if so what would be a good body in a 800.00$ range, used maybe? any help is much obliged

I would shoot either their digital lenses or their pro grade ones, its not really worth mounting you 67 lens on the DSLR. So look at the pro and digital lens lines, and see what the offer and the prices. I saw you mention a interest in a canon body on the other forum.. I have one and really enjoy it, and I do really like the L lenses.

I'm sure the others can inform ya about the pentax dslr bodies, I shot canon digitally and I'd recommend anything from a 20D which (i know is a few years old) you can get for a bit over 600 refurbished from somewhere like b&h photo on up. If you can get a good deal on a 30D or 40D go for that as well. I have a 20D and only plan to trade up when I can aford tthe 5D or its replacement when it comes out.

I'm sure ill get crap for the canon recommendations :P
I love my pentax bodies and shoot strictly them for film.

thanks for the response. i have always used pentax for film, and i love it. but i guess i trust the functionality of a canon as far as menus and such as i have always used canon point and shoot digitals. i just thought it would be worth it if i could use all my other lenses with a new digital, but i hear it's not that simple.

For $800 I would get a used Pentax K10D (the previous flagship model replaced by this years K20D) and you would have money left over to buy a few inexpensive quality lenses like the FA 50 f/1.4 or even some in the M and A range that suit your style if you prefer manual focus versus automatic.

If you wanted to spen $800 on the body alone, get the new Pentax K200D.

it almost seems like the k200d is much easier to find on ebay but they seem priced similar and the same aMOUNT of pixels, which is better and or why?
