I had hoped to use the camera with the 18-250 for a 98% lens change free system, later adding the 10-17 for close range versatility. I own a fleet of trucks and drive one. It is a very high dust environment, thus my interest in this system. How severely would using a non * lens on this body degrade my dust resistance? Thanks for any and all advice.
I recently used my K200 with the 18-55 II kit in a sandstorm, and sand did get into the kit lens enough to make it a bit scratchy when zooming. I was able to get it back to normal with the aid of a good blower, but a non-sealed lens is definitely the weak link in a dusty or wet enviroment, which is why I'm looking foward to getting the DA*30 and eventually a good copy of the DA*16-50 for just this kind of situation. I would imagine that your 18-250 would be vulnerable to the same issues, especially with such a large zoom range, so you are right to be concerned about this.

It's beginning to sound like I may be better off with the 18-55 and maybe a 50-200 and have the brief exposure during lens change rather than the 18-250. Another option would be the Sigma 17-70 for a little extra range without the huge span of the 18-250. I really don't need that much reach and if I could snap my fingers and create a lens it would be something like a 16-125 or so. That would be a heck of a good 98%er. Thanks for the feedback and advice. I appreciate all I can get so please continue.
