Hi guys,
i am a newbie to DSLRs. In fact i haven't bought one yet, but i can't wait for the K10D to arrive. I mean it's full of features. People are comparing it to Nikon D80, well i think it should be in the D200 clsass (IMHO).
Unfortunately i can't yet chose a lens. The new Pentax lenses are wow, with their weather sealing and USM, but i believe they are gonna be expensive. Moreover i am planning on buying 1 lens for now that covers the whole distance from wide to tele. I read mixed reviews for the Tamron 18 - 200 and the sigma 18 - 200. Now the Tamron will release their 18 - 250 mega zoom. What do you folks think?
N.B: Nikon have an 18 - 200 lens. will it fit on a Pentax? Sorry for the silly question.

No, the Nikon won't fit on a Pentax.

Generally speaking: 18-200/250mm zooms are ok, if you are willing to compromise on picture quality, in particular at the long end.
The bigger range of a zoom, the bigger the compromises in the optical design, which leads to lower sharpness and contrast, and more distortion.

On the other hand you gain in convenience; it's really up to your preferences.
