New k20d shutter count?

Hi,

My k20d just arrived today. I checked the shutter count of the first picture I took using ExifTool, and the read was 968. Is that too high? I'm afraid that my k20d is not brand new.

Thanks!

My im number started with zero. But img number can be reset to zero. Shutter count is more difficult to modify.

Striker99, my guess is you got a demo model. Where'd you buy it? Was it sold as "new?" You may want to contact the seller to clarify.

Thank you christinelandon.

I bought it from amazon. Not sure if they shipped it from a local store. Otherwise how could they use it as a demo model?

My img number started with zero also. But my shutter count is img number plus 2xx. I think this count is reasonable (caused by by QC of factory?)

That sounds a bit high to me. Most reports are for two hundred or so shutter actuations on new cameras. Did yours come directly from an Amazon warehouse or from an Amazon associate reseller? The shipping papers should indicate the shipping point of origin. In addition to direct sales, Amazon is an umbrella organization for resellers and when someone says "I bought from Amazon" that may not be the whole story.
