K200d

Just to add to the database - this little beast keeps chugging along! No where near the number of shutter releases of some people.....

K200D
  • Manufacture date: 2008-03-24
  • Purchase date: 2008-09-23
  • Shutter count: 11646

Condition:
  • Body - excellent condition (dust rather than wear/scratches) - and the dust sealing has saved me more than once
  • Sensor - a couple of hot pixels (mapped out) and dust that needs to be cleaned professionally at some stage soon
  • Batteries - Eneloops - almost perfect, though sometimes it says the battery is low, but off/on cycle clears that
  • Other issues - almost none except the double mirror flip with reversing rings/T mounts/extension tubes (a shorting issue I've read)

Our relationship continues

Cheers

I'll have to estimate it. I'm visiting relatives in Texas, really slow internet so downloading anything is just short of torture.

K-x. bought it in June 1 1/2 years ago so 6/2010. From Adorama I think...

I number my pictures sequentially when saving so it works out that the last picture I saved I added 8 in front of it, for 85425 in 1 1/2 years. (that's the number on the last picture in the current folder, whech was not good enough to show off but hasn't been deleted yet.) Don't ask how many keepers I've gotten with it...just the birds folder has 1048 shots, plus 5 sub folders for more commonly found specific birds - Woodpeckers, Birds of Prey, Bluebirds, Kinglets and so forth and I've just recently started separating them into sub folders. Waterfowl not included...they have their own folders.

So far the only problem is the cheap plastic viewfinder which picks up very fine scratches when cleaning after use in a dusty environment like we've had here after a serious drought. I never noticed it until it looked like the viewfinder was foggy one day and I cleaned it again...no change so I started checking it out. Magnifying glass showed tiny scratches. Can't wait to get the money together to have it replaced...then I'll have to figure out a way to avoid that, and if possible to keep fine dust out of a cleaning cloth...

Otherwise it works great and still takes excellent shots. I shoot almost exclusively wildlife so it's always outside in every kind of weather except storms, and even then if I can sit in a vehicle or on a porch I still shoot. And when I see something I want to shoot, I usually take as many shots as I can until it leaves. Sometimes that's only 2, sometimes I get 30 shots of one bird, I never know.

Given these new DLSR's are rated for 100,000 shutter actuations so anything below 10,000 is like new.
