I thought it would be a LOT higher although I didn't really start going shutter happy until the begining of this year.... and i was bed ridden for 2 months with a broken foot!

What would you say is the average monthly shutter count for the K20D if only used occasionally at the WE's?

Some really impressive numbers here.

My use of dSLR is limited to bigger venues and outdoor concerts - most of my shooting in clubs is done with a compact.

Lame excuses aside:

Counts using PhotoMe

Pentax K100D -
received Mar/23/2007
shutter count at IMGP0001 = 190
at IMG8031 = 18,224

Pentax Kx
received Nov/24/2009
shutter count at IMGP0001 = 396
at IMG2551 = 2,948

Total on Pentax dSLR = 18,224+2,948
but have to take into account the offset of the actuations the cameras came with from the factory -189-395 = 20,588

Just for interest -
compare with

Canon G10 (compact)
received June/16/2009
Canon does not provide shutter count in EXIF -
but my most recent image is IMG_3804 - which may seem low
except the clock has rolled over 10,000 - so that in reality is 13,804.

Canon S80 (compact)
received May/31/2007
last image = IMG_9867 on 5/24/2009
rolled over 10,000 count twice (2/08, 11/08) = 29,867

So for about two months less than my Pentax dSLR usage
my compacts put 43,671 shots through them (more than double)
