K10D update and Model Revision 8.1 Yes /No??

any update on this process? I have revision 2.1 with a manufacture date of 20070803. I have the DA21 and got the focusing searching issue. How do i proceed with this process and have them give me revision 8.1?

Whats so good about rev. 8.1 or more? I havn't checked what version my K10D is. Cna you check with the pentax photo browser? it has loads of info

I just my K10D in for servicing because 1) The date was stuck on Jan 1, 2052 @ 12:00:00AM and could always revert to this even if you changed it and 2) It was backfocusing, at least with my FA50 and FA35.

I sent my camera body in by itself and not any lenses and asked listed both issues. I got my camera back today, now with revision 8.1 and here's the work done:

Replacement of printed circuit boards and/or image sensor. Adjusted and calibrated all circuits for proper functioning.
Replacement or adjustment of electronic autofocus circuit including focus motor and encoder, CCD focus device, and laser alignment of mirrors.

Focusing is now MUCH improved, though after all that work, I have no idea if it's something from software, or all the adjustment, laser aligning and replacing of boards and motors. Probably the later...

On a fun side note, my camera, purchased in April 2007 now shows a 4-30-2008 manufacture date (about 3 days after they received my camera for repair) which I assume is coming off the new mainboard that was replaced inside.

well i just sent in my k10d w/ da21, da70 and fa50 for ff/bk focusing issues as well as focusing hunt issues. Hope i get mine back in the same condition.
How well do they pkg the items when returned? Do they include everything sent? I placed all my lenses in their boxes and wish to keep them for future sales.
And lastly, whats the turn around time?

Just keeping this thread alive.....

Going on week three and my baby has yet to be returned to me....

I called early last week and they said it was on the bench and being worked on.... my suspicion is that they did find something wrong with my camera / flash and are in the midst of repairs.

Sent mine in last week without lenses (asked the csr if i needed to send them and he said no)

This week they call and ask for my lenses so I go ahead and send along my 16-50 and 50-135 super insured to make sure it works well for both of them. Told me they won't get it until Monday because of routing.. I hope they take care of my babies :P

Some time ago, I noticed a problem with my DA* 16-50 (see https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/21436-af-won-t...asionally.html).
I send both K10D & lens to Pentax Belgium, as requested by them. That was end of april. This week I learned that the items were now at Pentax Germany awaiting arrival of a part from Japan, expected beginning of june.
I hope to see them back before my holliday, and "cured".
Then I can see about the Model Revision.

Still nothing here.

Going on Three weeks.....

Starting to think there was something wrong with it.

I sent in my body (K10D) and my flash (540)

It will be interesting to see what the repair list will be.

Am I reading right. Did not the guy who invented photo me say those 2.1 and 8.1 etc do not really mean what we think they mean? Can someone clarify?

I am wondeing if the flash is what is delaying things?

My complaint with the cam/flash is that my shots were very under exposed even when using the flash.

I felt the flash was not putting out proper light for my shots...

I wonder if they are doing something with the flash while they have it aout the pin

I had sent my K10D along with four of my lenses to the local Pentax service for AF calibration in March. But I sold the K10D not too long afterwards and upgraded to the K20D. Last night I went back and used PhotoMe to check the PEF image taken with the K10D and noticed the model revision had changed from 1.2 to 8.2 after the service trip. Service people didn't mention any hardward part change so my guess is that 8.2 is some kind of firmware not upgradable by the user, perhaps some kind of DSP reprogramming only performed by service staff?
