the K100D - how many exposures?

Yes, as the topic says, how many exposures is the K100D builded for? Ive heard a romour regarding the K10D, that it will manage about 100 000 exposures and I wonder what the limit is for the K100D.

Anyone have a clue?

Thank you for coping with my poor english.

Rumors are just that. I know for a fact everyone said the same thing about the istD there is one person on this forum that has over a million actuations on that camera and is still going strong. I think what you have heard is that the camera was tested up to 100,000 actuations and was found to be trouble free. It all depends on how you care for the camera.

I would say the same thing is true about the K100D. So far I have put over 10,000 on my K100 and the camera looks and acts like a new body. Maybe some will only reach this number but others with the right care and handling will go much further.
I don't think any camera manufacture makes a camera to just actuate a certain number of shots. I think what they are saying is the camera is tested to a certain number, and in most cameras the 100,000 mark is a lifetime of use.
If the 100,000 actuations is the stop number, where the camera stops working. then the manufacturer would be shooting them selves in the foot.
Hell there are some cameras not only Pentax that have stopped working after only a thousand.
Tell you what, when you reach this magic number let us know if you can't get to 100,001.

I'm almost 1/3 of the way there, and my camera's still working like new.
It doesn't quite look like new anymore, however if you consider what I've taken it through you'd be surprised how good it looks.

I dunno. I'd guess it's about 20% that and 80% other factors (which are complicated enough we might as well call them "luck").
