Cute idea! But not likely. New lenses generally add to the list of available glass, so lens road maps whet the appetite. On the other hand, new cameras usually replace existing ones. It would be bad business to flag far ahead that some desirable current model is about to be made obsolete by something even more desirable.

In addition to what Paul said, camera bodies are constantly being updated and replaced, this is quite different to lenses which are designed to stay in production for extended durations eg the FA 50mm 1.4 which I believe was introduced in 1991 and still seems to be in production 23 years later.

Coming from a 'similar' type of industry I can assure you: There IS a Pentax camera road map at RICOH. However, it may be subjecyt to constant changes; it is for internal use only and will never be made publicly available.

Paul the Sunman is absolutely right here!

(would love to see it, though)

I don't think this is complete/accurate.

1. Where is the Pentax A110D that I have been waiting for so long?
2. Are you sure that 645z is 2015 or later? My sources say 2014 or later. (Just look at my K200D announced in January 2008 and discontinued in December 2008).

You probably missed the fine print on the back of the road map.
"Road map may vary in response to market situation."

I heard that they might include "2014 or later" in next revision of the internal road map they have for road maps. But at the moment they are quite busy updating all road maps with the Ricoh logo. So it might have to wait till 2015 or later.

There is a difference between a camera roadmap and a lens roadmap

A lens roadmap is something to use as a marketing tool. A camera roadmap is an internal strategy document, which needs to speculate on things like sensor development, new body functions etc.

A camera roadmap would be a dangerous tool.

Just look back in time. What do you think would have happened when cannon changed from the breech mount , if this was announced a year or two in advance. Cannon sales would have died. Who wants an orphan ?

It was bad enough wat they did, and then to change again a year later. Bit if they were to announce to the world this was their plan in. Advance?
