Firmware updates

As Ive check on the K10D as to where Im up to in regards to firmware Im currently on version 1.10

Now does the firmware 1.11,1.20,1.30 have any adverse side affects to the camera when installed?

Ive just barely glimpse at what the upgrades are?

No problems encountered.

Go straight to 1.30 and enjoy the extra features.

Just off the top of my head.

Wireless flash, some reports of better AF, more control over your set up of what the front and rear E dials can do.

Yeah I've downloaded the update and I'll see if it will work. Is there any chance of it stuffing up the camera?

Not if you follow the instructions to the letter. Especially the bit about using fully charged batteries !

Download to a temp folder on your computer. Double click the download file and it will create a "read-me" file and a fwdc162.bin file

get a SD card and format it in the camera. take it out of the camera and connect the card to your computer with a card reader.

Copy the fwdc162.bin file from the temp folder to the root directory of the SD card. (the card may be showing an empty photo folder. if it is dont worry, just put the fwdc162.bin file next to it....NOT inside it.

Close the card reader through the disconect hardware option and then put the card in the camera. Switch the camera on following the instructions in the read-me file.

important.... use fully charged batteries and dont turn the camera off until the update is complete...otherwise you will muck up the firmware and the camera will need to go back to Pentax

I've done it!!!!! My K10D is now upgraded to 1.3 no problems (i made sure I had a fully recharged battery though

I also believe that you need 1.30 to use SDM lenses, in addition to the other parts of the upgrade. Congratulations on what sounds like a horribly difficult procedure, but is actually quite easy.
